For sure he is not thrilled. But I suspect you are right. That Aussie final loss was brutal, mostly because he was not competitive in any way. And when a player says "maybe I am not good enough", that is a big admition, even if it is not true.
Maybe he can recover; we will see. But I think that if given the choice of being a slamless #1, and being a slamless #2, he will take #1, even for a week (just look at Rafter, who did win his slams).

Sure. But Rios never gets mentioned by "former world #1 Marcelo Rios". Somebody always immediately adds "... who never won a grand slam".
You know Zverev would like to avoid that one.

Oh, he has achieved a lot. There is no doubt. But, as you imply, he might be unique. # 2 + 0 slams, but two YEC and over 20 titles, inclduign multiple MS1000. He has been good.
But remember how difficult people are to please.
