by ashkor87 Gauff has a nice draw.. easy path to QFs.. Eala has a really great draw, she may get to the semis! Saba has a really tough draw.. Vondrousova in R3..if Parks is as good as I think she is, this is her opportunity - Bencic in R1, Linette in R2..let us see if she can seize her chances..

Gauff lost to Kenin in the first round of Wimbledon a few years, and Kenin is playing much better now than she was then - that will be a tough match.

by ashkor87 Upset special ..Krejcikova will probably lose to Eala in R1, A rusty Bencic may not get past Parks...

Yes, but will Kenin keep the appointment? I doubt it, she hasn't been playing well lately.. gets TT in round 1.. always hard to beat her on grass..

by ashkor87 so now there is a prediction that whoever draws Polina K in the first round will win Wimbledon - that happens to be Swiatek! Last year, the same person predicted that whoever draws Veronika K in the first round will win - that was Krejcikova.. hmmm..!

by JTContinental Aryna and Coco both have pretty tricky draws to potentially navigate--I would not be surprised to see a rando winner and/or finalist again this year.

I agree with JTC re Aryna and Cori.

the real danger is Yastremska, who doesnt really have a great game for grass but appears to be playing very well..

by ashkor87 expected SF lineup if all goes well : Eala versus Rybakina, Sabalenka versus Paolini..it could be Maria instead of Eala of course..and Swiatek instead of Rybakina?

by Suliso Way too much expectations for Eala. At least this year.

huh?

by Suliso Lots of young players, but you we remember those who suceeded early. Can't make a valid conclusion that young players are particularly fearless.

Out of that list, Sabalenka is the only one who will go that far

by ponchi101 See all the thousands of players that did NOT make it to a GS Semi final before the age of 20, or ever.
Eala is good, but we are still under the mirage of her run at Miami. She did not play well during the clay court season, and her good showing at Eastbourne was at a tournament with a medium strength field.

I dont agree but we shall see..she seems to have the game for grass, from what I have seen...I go by fundamentals, not much by results and ranking

by ti-amie I've been hearing about Eala for a good three to four years now. The rap on her has always been her size but I think the success of Paolini has made that argument moot.

Seeing her falter today made me think she's still a year or two away from being able to compete mentally and physically with the top players. As I said Joint continued to play while Eala was taking a mental victory lap. Vondrousova first round should really make it clear to her how far she still has to go in my opinion.

by Suliso Eala is not particularly short (5 ft 9, 1.75 m). What do we think about Joint? She's younger than Eala.

by ashkor87 Tough first round matches : Vondrousovaa versus Kessler.. Kessler is plaing very well, has the right game.. of course, V is a champion, but it is a difficult first round for her.. Krejcikova versus Eala, ofcourse, Bencic versus Parks, Joint versus Samsonova, TT versus Kenin - all tough, could go either way... worthy of a third round at least..

by ashkor87
Suliso wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 3:42 am Eala is not particularly short (5 ft 9, 1.75 m). What do we think about Joint? She's younger than Eala.
Joint is clearly very good, she was a bit fortunate to beat Eala but you always need luck.. she is going to do well, not just at Wimbledon..she will go certainly to the fourth round, provided she gets past Samsonova, which I think she will.. where she meets Coco... can she beat Coco? Possibly but a bit unlikely, I would say..

by JTContinental Joint also won a title just before the French Open and then lost there in the first round.

by JTContinental I do think Eala has a chance to upset Krejcikova in this one specific instance, defending all those points and seemingly injured.

by ashkor87 Raducanu agrees with me about young people, and she should know

Karolina Muchova has cancelled her media day as she’s sick. Gosh she’s really been going through it this year!

by Suliso We're already guaranteed a new Wimbledon finalist. No one from the top half of the draw has played Wimbledon final before, not even Sabalenka.
