by mick1303 What is going on with Djokovic? Injury?

by Suliso Belinda almost lost a set from two breaks up, but managed to win a tiebreak from 3-0 down.

As for Djokovic I'm at work so hard to judge. Could be injury, but could also be father time or a combination of both.

by Suliso Third option - he's going for "rope a dope"

This.
He probably did not even warm up for Demiñaur. Took the first set for that.

by ashkor87 Bencic surprising me ..good candidate for best player yet to win a major ..

by Suliso This is her first GS QF outside USO.

by ponchi101 For a player that has been around for a long time, and has been highly touted, her Slams' record is rather thin. Indeed, only one GS SF, at the USO, losing to Andreescu.

Yep. He played possum for one set.

Olympic gold..

by ponchi101 My disdain for Olympic medals is only matched by your disdain for the rankings. :)
Sure, she won the OG. But I was talking slams.

by ponchi101 Emma just lost the first set to Mirra, hitting a grand total of 0 winners for the set.
That's how little power she has.

I like Emma so much better than I thought I would when she came onto the tour. I had the same preconceived notions about her being a nepo baby. She won my respect. But I don’t think she is a Tier 1 player. Missing aggression. The new Svitolina. Won’t beat herself but won’t pull many upsets. I figured Andrew a would win this match.

by Suliso I think Andreeva is almost ready to win a Slam. Talking about rich girls Pegula's game is far superior.

by Owendonovan Navarro is almost just a hitting partner.

Which I would love to be ;)

What is she missing by now? I believe you put in the rankings topic that she will get to #4 with these results. That makes her a top player, and she has all the strokes. She was hitting serves at 118 MPH today, which makes her serve as good as Sabalenka's.
So, what is missing? Not putting you on, just that I don't see anything else that she needs.

by Suliso Experience in the latter stages of the Slam, stability etc. Maybe nothing and she wins this week.

by Suliso On the other hand her opponents haven't been top class so far

She still has flashes of immaturity, though those have been fading with time.

At which point in what is not my conversation ;) I can drop the following link which just so happens to be about Mirra (and Conchita):

by Suliso Seems like Sinner is going down today. His weakest surface sure, but still highly unexpected particularly to a veteran player.

by JTContinental Andreeva still has a lot to learn about shot selection

He fell and seems to have hurt his elbow. Still, everything you say.

by ponchi101 I am starting to get that feeling that Iga is going to make a lot of people eat crow in a few days.

by Oploskoffie This looking really cruel for Grigor... :(

by Suliso What happened?

Damaged/hurt something while serving. Pectoral muscle?

Suliso wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 8:02 pmWhat happened?
Pec injury - looked like he was in serious pain. So sad as he was playing such a beautiful match.

by Suliso I was sure Sinner would retire because of his fall. Unbelievable...

by ponchi101 10th retirement by Dimitrov at a major, according to ESPN L.A. 4th time he has lost after leading 2-0 in sets, three of them by retirement because of injuries.

One of the reasons I never took to Bencic had to do with her "flashes of immaturity". She seems to have outgrown the temper tantrums now though. Andreeva is still in her teens right? They ned to start reinng. her emotions in now.

by ti-amie I'm glad to see Andy Murray agrees with me. I said this on BlueSky. Ridiculous to create such a big break at a crucial point of the match with Sinner down two sets to love.
