I see Alexandrova and Shnaider are due to meet again at the USO.. third round.. assuming the USO is a bit faster than Monterrey, we could see the result reversed.. but sad, all the same, that they meet again so soon. Assuming, of course, that Xinyu Wang doesnt knock off Alexandrova (which could well happen, Wang is really a fine player) and Shnaider gets past Siegemund (which also may not happen).

There you go. I can envision her doing well. Up and coming, has the athleticism, and there is that precedent you mention.
Give her a solid 2% chance. That is a bit more than your 1% ( joke ;) )

Mboko has a tough first round match vs Krejcikova who I'm guessing will be very motivated to win against this summer's sensation.

Projected semis:
Andreeva vs Sabalenka and Swiatek vs Osaka
Coco will struggle because of her new corrected action, will do well in the long run but it will take time - new muscle memory has to be built..

I'm not convinced about Osaka either. More likely it will be some surprise.

Andreeva beating Parks 0&1 will be the oddity. She has not been playing well.
I say we will see two mild surprises in the semis. Nothing totally out to lunch, but a bit unexpected.

she played very well in this match - she is coming of age.. she will soon challenge for the throne. Maybe even the US Open title this year. Sabalenka, Rybakina, Gauff, all have problems - except Swiatek, they are all a bit off - there is an opening, and Andreeva is the best player outside those few.

I'm reading elsewhere that Swiatek is the first player since Radwanska a decade ago to win 24 consecutive GS R1 matches.

Andreeva is injured and will not make the SF, I don't think. It was kind of surprising that she was playing at all, and beating Alycia Parks isn't really an indicator of how she is feeling healthwise. She'll lose to the first opponent who is good at tennis is my prediction.

Impressive, but still a long way from Serena's 46, which ranged from 1998-2012.

Parks played the semis in Monterrey I believe, a huge mistake on her part. There was no way she was going to win this match but that's just my opinion.
