Oploskoffie Week one is over, and not without the fair share of unwanted wins and losses

Category C players Lamens and Joint perhaps exceeded their own expectations, while all popular category B picks who played lived up to ours. We're moving on to Beijing, which starts tomorrow (at the time of writing that is) and offers us the ONLY 100 points reward for a first round failure of the whole competition! Haven't traded yet? Be sure to check if you want or need to do so!
Congrats to early leader
ptmcmahon who had a very active roster of players, with 11 out of 12 playing in Seoul and most of them out before the quarters

Things would probably have been a bit closer behind 1st place if popular wild card pick Zhu hadn't pulled out with a hip injury but she's getting a second chance with a wild card of her own for Beijing.
The week one scores are, as per my own tradition, categorized, this time by Kate Bush tracks

by
Oploskoffie Someone had to pick Anisimova; we could have had the scores up at least a day earlier
Week 2/3 congratulations go to
ptmcmahon; the distance between places 1 and 2 has now more than doubled

The second best Beijing score belongs to tenedab and Oploskoffie pips texasniteowl to third.
With just two tournaments played, we aren't even halfway yet, and the distance between the current mid field positions are about two first round losses. Wuhan, while also a WTA 1000 tournament only has a 56 player draw, so fewer chances for those 70 points score. Make sure to check your need to trade
This week's categories are headed by, to keep things current, Taylor Swift tracks:
by
Oploskoffie We're at the halfway mark, and week 4 congratulations go to
Omegadoom who moves up three spots into second with the only 500+ score!
New England Nitemare moves up a place into seventh and
ponchi scores a battling 420 points for the third highest Wuhan score!
First and second are now separated by a little over two first round losses, with the battle for third currently inside one R32 loss more or less. While we're out of WTA 1000 tournaments, we are into multiple-tournaments-per-week territory, so lots still to play for

by
Oploskoffie Week 5 is over and while the top-4 remained unchanged, there was some movement a little further down the rankings!
The best score of the week was
Oploskoffie's 497 points, followed by a tie for second between
tenedab and texasniteowl with 417 points.
In the overall rankings,
Oploskoffie moves up three spots,
New England Nitemare moves up one spot and both
Jeff from TX and
dave g take two steps back.
With just two more weeks to go and no less than five tournaments, this may well turn out to be the Goldilocks zone for trading; best of luck to us all!

Not too hot, and not too cold... so ... everyone loses in round 2 or 3?

Something like that wouldn't be a bad result, really

I'm still hopeful that we can wrap things up before the weekend in the final week

by ptmcmahon Now you've jixned it...someone's D player or Wild card will win a last week tournament now!
by
Oploskoffie Week 6 finished a day early

and we're about to move into the final week of the final fantasy contest of 2026!!
After some relatively close scoring, this week's top performer was
dave g with 320 points, followed by
texasniteowl with 300 points and only five points behind is
tenedab with 295.
In the overall standings,
ptmcmahon has the lead, as has been the case since week 1!

2nd through 4th place is separated by less than a first round loss, with the gap to the #1 position less than two of those. Not everyone has a trade left. Some of us still have more than one. This could be a really close finish - here's wishing all of us the best of luck!!

by ptmcmahon With only two players this week and no trades, I could easily slip from 1st to 4th. That would be truly being a great Loser after leading from week 1!
by texasniteowl I'm fairly certain tenedab is in really good shape. I was looking to see if I can make a further move, and I think both tenedab and myself have 6 players active if I looked at things right.
and of course I never count out omegadoom...
by
ptmcmahon Scared to look, Omega probably has 12 players and is going to finish first

by
Omegadoom I wish, lol. With 6 players remaining, both Tenedab and TNO have the inside track to the title.
I'm just hoping to sneak onto the podium, and that you're like the 2015 Kentucky Wildcats, where they were #1 all season, but got knocked out in the Final Four by Wisconsin, and I'm Wisconsin

by texasniteowl lol. 6 players don't do me any good if they won't lose!
I'm fairly certain Tenedab has it in the bag. But it's a toss up for silver vs. bronze still.

True, and true!

by
tenedab Thanks for your confidence but my bag may have some holes. I prefer to wait until the fat lady sings or alternatively closing remarks from Oploskoffie

by dave g Oploskoffie is off on a trip. He was waiting to be a notice from me saying that my scores matched his. But when I tried to send him the message that our scores matched, was when the website was under robot attack and woultn't let me post or message Oploskoffie. So here are the final results. The site does not allow me to time to correct the column spacing and still post the results. So, I will try to come back and correct the column spacing.

by ptmcmahon Sigh. First from Week 1 to Week 5...and then drop to 4th by single digits. I feel like a big loser!
by texasniteowl Well, yay! I medaled!
But boo...I had the wrong final week players. Had 6 of them and several of them ended up winning at least one match if not more. I had a chance to stay ahead of omegadoom but it didn't happen.
Congrats to tenedab and omegadoom! And sorry ptmcmahon! I didn't realize it was gonna be that close!
by
ponchi101 Congrats to the winners.
I am a bit busy right now, but will deliver medals later in the day.
And when Oploskoffie returns, we will thank him for running this show

by ponchi101 Ok, medals have been awarded.
Tenedan has reached a 10th Gold medal.
Omegadoom has reached 15 Silvers.
TNO now has 6 Bronze.
A trio of perennial winners. Good luck next year in AMitS.
And, as I said, thanks to Oploskoffie and Dave for the management.
by ptmcmahon I should keep track of my fourth places, I think I'd be up there for most all time!
by tenedab Thank you all! Congratulations to Omegadoom and texasniteowl! Nicely done! Big thanks to Oploskoffie and also dave g!
