I think it is more that the other players are believing. They are walking off the court thinking "I had a chance", not "I got lucky I was not clobbered".
But we are talking a lot about the decline of a player that is still ranked #2. That is not trivial.

Her game has become pretty one dimensional with no back up plan if the shots aren't going in.
