One truly long motion, she uncoils with fantastic speed. You have to wonder how many posters of Amelie and Gasquet she has pinned on her walls. It would be perhaps a liability on grass or any fast court because the wind up is that long but, on this clay, it works. But the Ue's are piling up.

There’s a flight around 7pm from Gatwick with Vueling Air (never heard of them!!) I’m due in to Gatwick on the train at 5pm so I should be ok to fly, then it’s only an hour or so to Orly from there. If anything it might get me to Paris a little quicker than my original flight from Manchester so I can’t complain. Plus looking at this lives scores it looks like it’s been raining so at least I will miss that too!meganfernandez wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 12:34 pmOh no! Allez, hurry! I hope you make it! Can you get the Eurostar tonight?Liamvalid wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 12:31 pm Eugh EasyJet have cancelled my flight to Paris, so I’m having to travel down to London to see if I can flight from there that will get me to Paris sometime tonight. If I have to travel tomorrow I won’t be able to make it to RG for start of play, although looking at todays line up, most of the R1 matches I want to see are being played today anyway

Down goes our defending champion! In her defense I don't think she was ready to play and wouldn't have if this were not her title defense.
She leaves the top 10 and it would not surprise me if forever.

Forever is a very long time, but indeed, the way things are going in the WTA, that is a possibility. She really was not ready; the UE's piled too much in the last two sets.
Nice poise from Parry after winning. This is a big win for her and yet, very calm after the victory. It would be good for France to get a new face. Of course, she now goes against Osorio, who is very different and will get back a lot of balls, but that is a winnable match.

Yeah, not surprised by this. Bottom half is a Grand Canyon now. So much opportunity to be a French Open runner-up. Could be a surprise finalist (Maria Camila Ocosio Serrano) or maybe Kerber. I know, I'm looking right past Sakkari.

I know, I know, I know. This is silly. I know, I know, I know. I am being stupid. But, Rafa, you have a chronic foot injury. DON'T hit your shoes with your racquet to get the clay off. At least not on that foot.

I thought of picking her today for the SP and thought: "nah, too early".
Dodged that one. I thought she would go farther indeed.
