Re: Tennis Related - Off Court Serious Issues
My problem is that so many other players are completely fine with the ATP. If it is such a terrible organization, why do they?
And let's not forget the history of the ATP. It was founded BY the players. Ashe and his peers at the time did it precisely to expand revenue and opportunities.
I guess times have changed. But I would welcome a trial. Let's see both sides of the arguments.

There was already a time when the tour was fractured: Gran Prix vs World Championship Tennis. Wasn't that good of a time, I reckon. The best players were playing each other less frequently. Do we want this, as fans? I'm sure I don't.

Dont really know but the players don't seem to have much voice in the ATP these days .maybe administrators have hijacked it over time..that does happen to organizations over timeponchi101 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 11:42 am My problem is that so many other players are completely fine with the ATP. If that is the case, and it very may well be, then Coup the ATP and reclaim your association. But don't start from scratch.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 1:55 pmDont really know but the players don't seem to have much voice in the ATP these days .maybe administrators have hijacked it over time..that does happen to organizations over timeponchi101 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 11:42 am My problem is that so many other players are completely fine with the ATP. I mean, a good boycott of the Slams or a shutdown of the tour can do wonders to stir up

As far as I know, the board consists of 4 players representatives, 4 tournaments representatives and the chair. Each has one voice. And it was like this for a while, so no hijacking was happening - at least not recently.

Re: Tennis Related - Off Court Serious Issues
It's a bit like deja vu... I believe the ATP as it exists today broke off from the existing tour in the 1980s to start its own tour, but to do so they gave up most of their power to the tournaments they enlisted to participate in the new ATP tour...and it ceased to be a players' union. Since the ATP no longer fulfills its original mission, it seems like an actual players' union whose sole mission is to advocate for the needs of the players does need to exist.ponchi101 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 2:46 pmIf that is the case, and it very may well be, then Coup the ATP and reclaim your association. I instantly became Kasatkina's fan. That dreaded country does not deserve such nice things as tennis.

I have always been a fan of hers. But this is risky. We know how Vlad deals with people he doesn't like.

You can't live on the road and from hotel to hotel indefinitely.

I wonder if her family emigrated with her?

Just don't get a hotel room with a balcony, windows that open, or room service.
