Yes, missed that subtle point. But I then will say that Iga will gain on Aryna. Iga's confidence must be overflowing at the moment. Aryna's must be dented.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
She has almost double the points of Swiatek, and she'll defend a good portion of what she has left, so I think it will be a tall order. Gauff has a better chance after her less than stellar summer last year, but she won't do it either, IMO.

Gauff doesn't have a better chance, I think. She's now well behind Swiatek in the race.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
I've been watching her matches as my late night/early morning tennis (don't ask) and I've noticed she has "that thing". It'll be interesting to see how she fares against higher ranked players.

I had to really look for it but here's a short clip of Valentova. She played a LL today but you can get an idea of how she plays.

Alex de Minaur returns to top 10 by making the final in Washington. Rublev drops to #11.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina makes the top 20 for the first time by making the final in Washington.
No changes at the top of the women's rankings this week.

I've only seen her play against Coco, and she wasn't very impressive, but that was against world #2 at a grand slam. She has been tearing up the ITF.

Re: ATP & WTA rankings
The USA system is working. We just don't notice. The US crop of men is also doing well. It is just that for the USA success is defined by having slam winners.
Notice two other interesting phenomena.
Italy has 9 players in the top 100, two in the top 10. That is amazing for them.
And Spain has many but, other than Carlitos, none with real prospects to making it far at any slam. Which for them, is not so good.

In the case of US men, why no Slam winner since 2003 Roddick US Open ? Cilic, Del Potro, Murray and Wawrinka managed to win at least one through 3 players who combined for 66 Slams.
