US Open Finals viewership averages:

Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka: 3.422 million (with a pretty high peak at match point I'm assuming)

Novak Djokovic vs Daniil Medvedev: 2.321 million

And this is also some people not able to watch because of the fight between Disney and some cable company in New York. Just imagine if they were able to watch it, the numbers could be crazy.

The men's final last year did 2.15 million. Saturday is also dominated by college football in the US so the women have plenty to compete against as well.

The tournament as a whole did very well ratings wise this year in the US. ESPN will be very happy.

Should the USO start on Sunday and have BOTH Finals run on the Saturday of the second week? Because having anybody go against the NFL on their first week will always be a losing effort in the USA.

Clearly, it's time for the men to take a pay cut.

Nah, let's do the right thing and split the money with the men. No need to be petty. ;)

And that has been my point against "equal pay" by decree. If the women's final had better rating, and let's assume that this happens again and again, let the women get paid more. If the WTA becomes a more attractive package, let the splits go by what the market says.
And I am not joking.

NOPE. Equal pay. Make this the best, and with all possible opportunities, for all players.

DAMN. I was just about to post some photos from the US Open. I keep getting messages that the files are too large (tee-hee). If anyone has a REALLY simple fix- please do let me know. Otherwise- no photos to share here. :|

I've always found the easiest way is to post the photos to social media, and then copy the link from there to post it here.

There is no easy fix. We have a limit on size and, well, if they are too large, you would have to resize them.
Sorry :)

I'm about to do a large post on Facebook. I'll try this later. Thanks!

NO need to feel sorry. Perfectly understandable. Thanks for the update.

....SO- assuming I can follow skatingfan's perfectly clear instructions- here are a few photos. (IF I've messed up, please feel free to let me know). The first photo is with my airbnb hosts- and their unbearably adorable dog, Diamond. The rest of the photos.....I'm gonna, so to speak, let them speak for themselves. Except to add- I will be 64 in December. So there. :gorgeous:

If we are seeking ultimate fairness, the division would be stars vs non-stars, not tour vs tour. Coco would take home even more money than she did. Shelton, too. I don't know why prize money is yoked to ratings, anyway.

And if there's a lever to pull to correct for gender bias in the workplace and sports, I say pull it. Whatever unfairness results is worse than the alternative.

OH, and here's a photo that John took of us in August. We'll hit 29 years together in November.
