Michelle Obama’s office confirmed she did not attend the funeral but did not say where she was or why she was absent.

“Former First Lady Michelle Obama is not in attendance at President Carter’s National Funeral Service,” according to the statement from spokesperson Crystal Carson. “Mrs. Obama sends her thoughts and prayers to the Carter family, and everyone who loved and learned from the remarkable former President.”

CNN reported before the funeral that the former first lady had a scheduling conflict and remained in Hawaii, where she had been on an “extended vacation.”

Steve Ford, son of late former president Gerald Ford, spoke and offered the Carter family condolences: “God did a good thing when he made your dad.”

Ford then read a eulogy that had been written by his father, whom Carter ousted from the White House in the 1976 election.

“By fate, for a brief season, Jimmy Carter and I were rivals,” the reading began. But Gerald Ford wrote that it led to one of the “most enduring friendships.”

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, the powerhouse country music couple, sang John Lennon’s “Imagine,” one of Carter’s favorites. He once said of the song, “In many countries around the world — my wife and I have visited about 125 countries — you hear John Lennon’s song ‘Imagine’ used almost equally with national anthems.”

He will be buried with all the honors a two time president gets, because that is the protocol.
And since Obama will very likely outlive him, he will be there.
It will be interesting to see how full the cathedral will be, though.

Canadian MP Charlie Angus on California: We have fire crews in the danger zones. The Canadian military is now on full alert to help. That’s what we do—we help our neighbors in times of crisis.

The fact that Trump isn’t there.. is shocking but this is what criminal grifters do.
He really called our Criminal Felon POTUS a criminal grifter.
