I understand that Mmoh is a fine player, but in theory, that should have been an easy win by Denis. And yet, he keeps losing. Wonder what is going on with him.
Feel like Shapo has really skated on getting criticized for his underwhelming performances in the last year. Players with considerably less of a falloff have been called out far more often than Shapo does.

Now, anyone with ears should be thrilled we're not being subjected to his on-court rapping after a big match, but if players doing way more than he has been in the last 2 years can be called out fairly regularly for not progressing enough, then Shapo should be on that list as well, really more so.

You're right albeit it depends on what each of us expected. For example I always thought that FAA and Sinner have better prospects so Shapovalov underperforming kind of reinforces that.

I always felt he did not have the size for his style of game. He tries to overpower the other player, but the UE's then become too much.
But he was on the cusp of the top 10 (close, at least) and now can't buy a win with cash.
Not that I am holding my breath for him to become dominant or even relevant. He thrills me not one bit. But I thought he would be in the conversation.

Denis has a ton of natural tennis talent. Considerably more than Felix, in my opinion.
When I watch Felix, I see someone who was TAUGHT to play tennis. Every movement is meticulously calculated to be 'proper'; there is zero spontaneity in his game.

Denis is the polar opposite. Because of his very natural ability, he ad libs everything on the court. And because he has the talent to essentially hit any shot from anywhere on the court, it's difficult for him to choose the most logical shot to hit.

I think Denis is drifting into the Kyrgios/Arazi/Leconte category of immense natural ability, but weak psychologically.

I've said many times that Felix needs to be more like Denis (needs to be less conservative, and more spontaneous), and Denis needs to be more like Felix (needs to be less spontaneous and more conservative and disciplined).

I don't know who is commentating on Tennis TV. But somebody, tell this guy that in the tennis world we call the game won on the opponent's serve "break". Not "breakthrough". Just "break". I guess it is ok to say "breakthrough" once or twice as a "color commentary". But he says it every single time. Sounds like this person is commentating a wrong sport.

There is an article on ESPN today about the guy who beat Jack Sock in the first round—he is a local real estate agent who had to ask to leave work early to play his match.

@ponchi, why does the court in Argentina say "Buenos Aires Ciudad"? Is that a common way to refer to it there? Is there a state/region/province that it gets confused with?

You are right. You have the City (ciudad) and you have the Provincia (province), which includes the city but the city remains independent, as it is the seat of the federal government. So, ciudad is administratively separate from the province.
Despite Buenos Aires Ciudad being the capital of the country, the capital of Buenos Aires Provincia is LA PLATA, just a few miles south east of BA.
You know, my dear Argies :).
