by ponchi101 Not a bad field, for a small tournament.

by ti-amie As of now no lists are available for WTA tournaments at "that site" that's been a resource for a few years. I'll have to rely on tournament sites, Twitter accounts (boooo hiss) or the WTA official site

by ponchi101 And yet, we know you will manage :trophy:
Thanks for that :grouphug:

by ti-amie Word is Bouchard has been given a MDWC. No way to confirm this yet though. If anyone sees a valid website with real lists please post. The WTA is ridiculous.

Did you know that this year we will enjoy the stage with the greatest capacity in our history? 🏟πŸ₯³

@Tuboletaoficial

That's it for now from them. The WTA site doesn't refer you to a tournament site.

by Deuce I've got to grab tickets and get down there for the inevitable Bouchard - Podoroska Final!

It's amazing (and very sad) that Genie can still sell tickets at this point.
Probably only 3 or 4 tickets, but still...

by ponchi101 She did not say much. As I said, that was a hard blow for her. She really likes to play here, it is her home crowd (not her home city, but she is beloved here) so maybe she was bummed. Most likely.

She said as much. She just didn't go into details about her injury.

by Deuce Well, the overwhelming favourite to win the tournament is out - Genie Bouchard just lost to Kamilla Rakhimova - 6-0, 6-7, 6-4.
The good news is that this will free Genie up to pursue more important and more lucrative pastimes, such as taking endless β€˜selfies’.

by ponchi101 Terrible day to play tennis. It is raining, cold and humid. Those balls must be going at 50MPH tops.

by Deuce As compared with the 52 mph they usually travel from Maria ;) .
I like her game. It's quite different and more creative than the usual.

by ti-amie It's the same situation in Charleston.

Yes - especially with Kasatkina and Jabeur. Not exactly power hitters...
But even Keys was playing it relatively safe vs. Kasatkina. Her shoulder was apparently injured, though, so that was likely at least part of the reason.

She won the title again, needing three sets vs Stearns.

by ti-amie Does being at altitude cause someone to be long winded? The trophy presentation has been going on for almost half an hour and they're up to speaker #4. The first guy spoke for almost ten minutes.

by ponchi101 No. That is a very Colombian thing (and, I must add, Bolivians too).
When you give a Colombian a microphone, the words "I'll be brief" are only used in jest. For example, at the building I live, we have a yearly owners' meeting. Last year's it lasted 5 hours (I kid you not). So, this year I told them I would run it (somebody has to chair it) and I was able to cut it down to 3 hours (still, far too much).
I am very popular (now!) with my neighbors.

But, coming back, Colombians are simply extremely fond of long meetings. And long speeches.

Yes... having had the chance to get to know her and her family a little bit at a tournament last year, I can say that they are all nice, down to Earth people.
Among all the various young girls in that clip, her daughter Charlotte is the one whose arm she raised while posing for the photo.
And Charlotte is a good little player, too...
