by jazzyg My track record when going against the crowd in these contests with the women is abysmal, although it hasn't come into play for a long time because I haven't lasted long enough to try it.
Would have beaten the draw at Wimbledon several years ago (when it was easier to do so because all the fourth rounds and quarterfinals were played on one day) if I had simply picked Sharapova to beat Vandeweghe instead of the reverse.

Four of us will end that drought if Sabalenka beats Pegula on Saturday.
Pegula has been remarkably consistent this summer. She beat Shnaider 6-4, 6-3 in Canada and 6-4, 6-2 here. She beat Muchova 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in Cincinnati and 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 here. But she lost to Sabalenka 6-3, 7-5 in Cincinnati, so she will need to up her game even more to have a shot.
