It never worked for Roddick or Agassi against the big three. Why different now?

Because Sinner or Medvedev are not Roger/Rafa/Novak. The task is not as daunting.
Mind you. I am not saying that Fritz or Tiafoe will go out as a favorite. I am only saying that their chances are not terribly low.

Agree, but is Tiafoe/Fritz the same level as Roddick? I think also not.

What was so special about Roddick? Sure, great serve and a solid inside out FH. Other than that, the rest of his game was top 50, nothing more.

5 Slam finals. Very few have done better. He used his weapons very well and didn't choke often.

This is pretty much the only tournament Medvedev has played well in this year, so I think either of them would have a chance there. I can see Fritz taking out Sinner (their h2h is 1-1), but not Frances (1-4)

Ultimately, I think Sinner will take the title, but it's fun to speculate since it's been 15 years.

I'm also not counting out Draper as a spoiler for this half of the draw. He's been playing excellent tennis.

Muchova is dealing with a hip injury and a stomach bug; hopefully she can stay healthy enough to give Iga or Jessica a good match.

Stomach bug can be fixed quickly. A hip injury, against Iga? Nope.

+ Mental game was better in comparison to a Tiafoe for example.

Kind of a low bar, isn't it? Tiafoe cannot be said to have been a giant in that aspect.

I used Tiafoe because we were specifically talking about Sunday's final. I also think Roddick was mentall stronger than Fritz :)

Serious question: have you ever seen Fritz check out mentally out of a match? I think he competes well.
