OMG, it's coming back to me. I wonder if I have the images saved somewhere in the depths of my Google drive. Good times.Oploskoffie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:40 pmNot actual merch, but perhaps you remember a certain one-off "I got BondarenKO'd in the quarter final of a major" t-shirt?

Vondrousova's withdrawal wasn't entirely unexpectedJTContinental wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 11:16 pmI do sympathize as it sucks to go out that way, but it's a good rule, and there are reasons that it is in place.mcbride10s wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:00 pm A longstanding rule doesn’t make it a good rule. Vondrousova withdrew “hours before” her match, meaning play likely started for the day and it would have been too late to make a new pick. Getting the LL makes sense. But, not my pool, not my rules, I’m out, fair and square, just seems no harm no foul to get the LL instead of an arbitrary elimination from a for fun suicide pool. If it was the 3rd round or something and your player withdrew then tough luck, but that isn’t the case here. Oh well.
1)It creates an administrative nightmare on the back end for volunteers who are doing this in their spare time. For example, sure Vondrousova withdrew hours before the tournament, but it was late night/early morning on a weekend in my time zone, and I'm not sitting a my computer all day constantly checking the draw looking for withdrawals, nor should I have to. The 15 players eliminated also did not do this.
2)You didn't pick the LL, so it creates an environment that is unfair to the other players who made a pick.

That is a better spelling for "BondarenKO'd!" I do hope someone has an image. I don't remember it - would love to see it!mmmm8 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:10 amOMG, it's coming back to me. Re: AOSP25 Women's Picks and Results Thread
After subtracting a whopping 9 no picks and one interloper that keeps picking despite not having made a pick on day 1, we are down to 71 players for Day 4.
I predicted before the tournament that Tauson was going to take out a good chunk of the field, so let's see if I am right.
The breakdown:
Clara Tauson 18
Belinda Bencic 17
Donna Vekic 11
Leylah Fernandez 9
Liudmila Samsonova 7
Paula Badosa 4
Mirra Andreeva 2
Magdalena Frech 1
Marta Kostyuk 1
Diana Shnaider 1

I'm sure TMQ must be busy, but I do miss the stank-nalysis.

We are currently hanging a huge exhibition in the gallery, but I am hoping to get to it in the next night or two. I love snarking.joanjettson wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 9:19 pm I'm sure TMQ must be busy, but I do miss the stank-nalysis.

Another light day it seems, albeit we did lose 3 Naomi pickers.

Thanks a lot, Jessie! I'm out because I was too lazy to type Pavlyuchenkova
