by ti-amie I thought I was losing it for a minute because last I read Raducanu had a Qualie Wild Card here. Now she's in the main draw.
There are a lot of theories about what could have happened but nothing definitive from the WTA.
One of the been around forever tennisheads reported that Sonobe had a main draw WC. She is an IMG player.
Now Sonobe is in the Qualies and Raducanu, also an IMG player, is in the main draw. The WTA makes it impossible to get entry lists for some reason.
The Brits are already complaining about her "nightmare" draw.
by Jeff from TX Her quarter looks quite reasonable - good players there (as in all 4) but no prohibitive favorites.
by Owendonovan "The Brits are already complaining about her "nightmare" draw."
Maybe not such a nightmare if she could get some good training blocks with a coach, but no one seems good enough. Gives her a bit of princess vibe.

Why is it always tennis?

by skatingfan Vondrousova def Raducanu 6-3 6-4
by ashkor87 Bencic just double-bageled Kudermetova! What was that?!
by ashkor87 saw the highlights.. V had many errors but mostly due to sluggish footwork - Bencic's metronomic hitting with pace and depth works well on this medium-paced court, I guess.. let us see how far she can go.. an inspiration, certainly, to all mothers making a come-back
by Suliso Bencic has won both Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the past. Beat Kvitova in the former. Next is the repeat of Olympics final.

Oh I absolutely love Bencic...her ability to change direction is so much like Hingis...the year she won the Olympic gold, I had predicted she would win it, after the big players like Osaka lost early..i remember getting flak for it on this forum.

she beat Badosa easily! happy to see..
by ponchi101 Badosa is a mystery. Does well for two weeks, out easily the next, on a court that should be fair for her.

I don't agree..she is just not that good, was blasted by a better player
by ponchi101 How far has Noskova gone in the last two hard court slams?
Sure, she holds some promise. But this is not the second coming of Mandlikova. Should not have been that easy for her.
by JTContinental Noskova is not a better player than Badosa

Wait and see. She is still very young.

If we wait for that, even Tignor will rave about her..in What way would I be better?
by Suliso Seems like Krueger is much better than Noskova anyway.

In that Noskova's promise has yet to be fulfilled. Sure, she plays a very good game, but so far it has yet to translate into major wins, or a high ranking. Badosa, for all her faults (and I agree she is not Slam material), has achieved more. So, the statement that she was beaten by a better player explained little. Sure, Noskova was better that day; she won. But Noskova is not a giant killer.
Yet. She may go on to be a top player soon, but we have to wait.
by Suliso Outstanding from Bencic! Can she beat Krueger? I think the chances are not too bad.

Perhaps more motivated at a Slam than a 500, especially when she is no longer desperate for a big result.

SUI B. Bencic vs USA A. Krueger
by ashkor87 Krueger reminds me a bit of Rybakina..easy power from nowhere..sheer timing..and likes to volley too..never seen her before
by Suliso A slow start from Belinda, but eventually a convincing win. 9th title of her career and up to #65 Monday. A return to the top 20 seems likely to me.
by ashkor87 saw the highlights but couldnt actually tell what Bencic did to turn it around..?
