That was a monumental win by Sinner for his 4th GS title. Indeed we really needed that.

Also I wonder what's the probability Sinner will end this year just a point away from a calendar year GS? I'd say as high as 75%.

Carlos ain't gonna be in the final of the US Open. He has given me no real sign of winning another Open, at this point in time. I mean, LOL, HEY, BEN, go beat Sinner in the final.

Other than having it won already once, and being clearly better than anybody other than Sinner?
What kind of sign are your expecting? Stars aligning with his name over Arthur Ashe stadium?

I mean, LOL, of course, please put up the sign for Carlos in Ashe for us Carlos fans. The stars aligning are optional.

Since winning the US Open, Carlos IMO had a really weak loss to Medvedv in the SF, and a beyond weak loss to van de Slump in the 2nd R loss last year. It could be argued that the Open win was a bit of an Everyone Was Knocked Out and Carlos Was Able to Get the New Kid Fluke Win. The play of Carlos after Wimbledon IMO has not at all been impressive these past few years. Also, at the Aussie, he has yet to get past the QF round, losing this year in the QF to a Not At All Top Notch Novak, who then had to quit before finishing his SF. At these Slams, IMO, clearly, he has not proven to be better than the other players.

At least arguably, Sinner this year beat Carlos and was one point away three times of beating Carlos at his, by far, best Slams. Certainly, I am hoping that his Wimbledon loss can light a fire under Carlos' ass at the US Open....the way that Sinner very quickly got his revenge....and at least compete better, if he can actually make it to the final. But, until Carlos can improve his serve at all tournaments, and find the right levels of energy and resolve after Wimbledon....

1) Alcaraz is clearly above the field, except one player - Sinner
2) They are too close in level and each match will be decided by a form on the particular day.
3) Alcaraz already proved that he can win HC slam

So this pessimism of yours is reactionary. He'll be fine.

Actually if someone else does win a Slam in the next two years I'm betting it happening on hard courts.

You asked that question in another topic. And we are still not even close to an answer: Who will be the next slam winner.
Fritz? Nope, he is running with a 5 speed gearbox and Carlos and Sinner have 6.
Shelton? Maybe, if he serves at 90% for five sets. Not gonna happen.
The other Americans are actually regressing.
The Russians are basically gone (Daniil and Andrei).
Mensik? Still young, so the future looks alright. And his record in TB's is so good that if he can get in 4 of them, maybe.
Fonseca. Only 18. But he needs to really learn to play on hards. He has the FH, but the rest is still in progress.

The chances of a J/C Part III are very good.

The surprising thing about Shelton is that he doesn't hit big enough off the ground to compete with Sinner, and Alcaraz. His serve is the only thing that he does well enough a the moment, and at best he's going to start 50% of the points serving.

Shelton made the semis at the US Open two years ago. Also, he's going to move to #8 in the rankings as of next Monday, and so he'll have a chance to have his own section at the US Open this year, and he's a pretty consistent best of 5 player.

Just went back to look at Shelton's results - we must have some collective Shelton amnesia because he was just in the quarters at Wimbledon, and the semis in Australia (l. to Sinner both times) - so in total he's made 2 quarters, and 2 semis so far in his career.
