dave g This is where you come to drink and commiserate about your picks that lost.
This is also where we all end up.

by texasniteowl Well...that's a quick out for me on the WTA side of things. Bye Bye Yastremska.
by shmrck14 Incoming bandwagon....
by ponchi101 WTF? Cobolli?
Man, do I hate losing on day 1. And I was drinking already...
by
Oploskoffie INCOMING!! 31 Korda pickers in need of drinks!! (maybe we can grab some chairs and join the Cobolli table...

)

Why Cobolli? He hasn't played since November. Likely not ready and came here just to collect R1 paycheck.

Cobolli was sick. He practiced with Carlos in the offseason. He was ready enough to play his way into the tournament.
by meganfernandez My drink never showed up… like my women’s pick, Vondrousova.
by
Suliso Maybe so, but I'd not have taken a non top 10 player without a single match this year.
Now watch me crash out with Tien tomorrow.

by ponchi101 I forgot that stat from Cobolli. Went by seeding and the Q next to his opponent.
by texasniteowl Woke up to find the Korda news! Double cheeked on day 1! It's Australia!
by Jennede Thought a favourite oldie would get through one round at least, but Pavlyuchenkova has put me out of the womens. If she retires this year at least I won't have to keep remembering how to spell her name.
by Irena2 Anybody mind if I join? I totally forgot to pick. Motobass as well. We'll blame it on Bears mania.
by
ponchi101 Sure. Go ahead. I recommend you pick Cobolli for your 1st round.

by Suliso Lucky with Tien today...

You were. In retrospect, a very good pick, because he did not look like a guy that will go much further.
by ashkor87 I thought Lehecka was a safe pick.. should have known unknown opponents make anything risky..
by ponchi101 I have him in my AMITS team. He has done nothing.
He has also gone into hibernation. He looked quite promising a few years ago, and it has not panned out. Maybe he lacks size.
(Then again, it is not as if Carlitos is huge...)
by atlpam Out with Bouzas Maneiro - I thought she was playing well at United Cup, but I guess I underestimated an Aussie playing at home.
by
Oploskoffie Double-cheeked after a day-and-a-half... On the plus side... Ehmm...
So, my 2026 SP ambitions start off even worse than last year. Maybe Blue Monday is a real thing after all...

by
ptmcmahon Weirdly random - first night I fell asleep and woke up on couch with my day 1 ATP pick losing (Korda.) Day 2 same thing - I woke up and the person who I had picked for day 2 before elimination was losing (Lehecka.)

He's at least the bum of my AMITS B team!
by Owendonovan I live on with the women, Nakashima wanted me out of the men's for some unknown reason.

Me too. I forgot abotu the Sunday start somehow. Good thing this lounge feels like home!
by jazzyg Amazing that Maddison Inglis broke down in tears after eliminating Birrell (and me from the Survivor pool).
Seven years ago, Vekic broke down in tears DURING the third set of her inexplicable loss to Birrell, which also eliminated me, and Birrell proceeded to win all of of one game in the next round vs. Kerber. I finally saw an opportunity to get something positive out of Birrell and got what I deserved for that precious pick.
I need something heavy after failing to survive the first round for the men and women for the second straight slam, but at least I made it past the first day in one of them this time.
by ponchi101 There is something terribly bumming about not being able to even escape 1R of an SP. Especially getting burned by two top 20 players.
More than a decade since I even reached like a semi.
by JTContinental This 3 day 1st round format the slams have all adopted is murder for this contest.
by Suliso Indeed, albeit this time I've been lucky to escape R1.
by Jennede I am out on the men's side now too, picked Borges as I thought Tien was overhyped - clearly not. Thank you for running this contest, it was a bit of fun during the tennis watching.
by atlpam Oh well - Khachanov took me out, but at least I lasted a few rounds on one side of the pool.
by New England Nitemare Out with Osaka withdrawal, the worst way to go out in the pool. It happened to me at Wimbledon a few years back with Berretini as well.
by joanjettson My number one rule of SP is never trust a "K."
So...thank you, Karen Khachanov, for reminding me why rules are not meant to be broken.
That man, though. Those legs.
Bartender - a pair of beer goggles, please!
