by Oploskoffie Welcome one and all to Frequent Flyer Lounge! The best place to discuss, moan, vent or celebrate (and all options in between) the results of your very capable selection of players 8-)

We have chairs, sofa's, pews, hammocks, tatami mats, chaise lounges and all other manner of seating to get comfortable in with a drink and/or snack in hand. Make the best of our multi-court coverage on the big screens, or just stare out the window at the airplanes transporting the early-exit picks to their next destination ;)

by ptmcmahon For a second I thought this said Frequent Fryer and was getting ready to lambaste Pliskova :)

by Oploskoffie Which you are still perfectly free to do  ;)

by ptmcmahon To the moon Alice!

by ptmcmahon Today up to be fried... Emma Navarro.

Although to be honest, I wasn't expecting much from her anyway, she's done nothing for a long time. Plus, it felt like taking Alexandrova may have even been worse. Both of them likely only picked from a lack of A players this week.

by Oploskoffie Make it... extra crispy ;)

As far as selection logic and feelings: I looked at the draws and was just "meh". Like, there are opportunities for sure, but which of the three finals will feature more than a single top-4 seed?

by ptmcmahon Well for the A group, there were 4 players playing and all in Abu Dhabi. So it was leave out the one you feel worst about. Although Navarro and Alexandrova were pretty neck and neck for me!

by ptmcmahon I'd be more mad at Bencic... but looks like we all have her.

by Oploskoffie Sramkova and Cristian currently not doing... great

by ptmcmahon Ok I can definitely be mad at that pair...I was the only one with both of them.

Cristian was especially bad - she barely scraped out a round 1 win, and lost 6-1 6-0 today.

by ptmcmahon Alexandrova is making me eat my words.

by ptmcmahon Props to Ponchi for being only one with an Ostrava finalist. And one of only two people with Abu Dabhi seimifnalist Baptiste. Fortunately for rest of us he doesn't have any potential Cluj Napco finalists, but still impressive couple of pulls from C/D groups.

Boulter was my first wild card I had picked, but then saw Pliskova would be playing at least twice and switched... whoops!

by ponchi101 I believe I am still far from the lead. If my accounting is correct, Jeff Fr Tx is scorching the contest.

by ashkor87 Am pleased Cirstea won, and Alexandrova got to the finals...usually I am dead last after the first week. Hope to do better this time

by ponchi101 And I just realized that Bencic, a popular pick, did not even play. Too lazy to look up what happened (we couldn't all waste one pick that easily).

She withdrew with an "illness" announced after deadline. Announced pretty much right before she would have played.

Not our fault this time :D

My gamble this week is not adding Rybakina like everyone else... hoping for the .. frequent(?) .. post slam letdown.

by ashkor87 Bencic was ill.

by ashkor87 I see 4 of us have Parks, we should all be happy with her win over Shnaider in R1.. I think she has a great future, provided she learns to hit the right shot at the right time..I hear she has been hitting with Serena..

by ponchi101 You have been high on her for years, and yes, glad she is doing well. But she has been around for a while, and she is where she belongs. The UE's are too much.

by Oploskoffie Popular incoming trade Anisimiva retired in the final set of her match against popular wildcard Pliskova! 😬 Raducanu also retired and in similar fashion. Not necessarily major game changers, but Amanda out does open the door for some different scenarios!

by Oploskoffie And now I feel like the average sports commentator for stating the obvious β˜ΊοΈπŸ˜…

by New England Nitemare Amanda!!!! Oh geez.....now I have to hope Pliskova goes on a deep run!!!

Don't worry, there was one of us who had both of them... And I'd definitely say an A player losing and retiring in first match after five of us added is a major game changer!

Everyone on my B team got 3 points, and I got a lucky loser (BHM) - who won one game today.

This week is going swimmingly so far.

by ptmcmahon And don't worry, the person with Anisimova and Raducanu... also traded in Gauff.

I've never felt more like just giving up on a contest so early than this. Down to 3 players already and one is Wang who is about to play ... Rybakina.

by Oploskoffie It is that kind of tournament 😢 At this rate we'll be able to check the scores earlier than during The Greatest Loser 🀣

Yeah. That's me. Can we just flip this to a biggest loser contest?

I was away from home for 2 days and came back to this mess.

I actually had Anisimova on my team from the start thinking I'd save myself a trade. Yeah.

And I figured Gauff would bounce back and also everyone else going Rybakina and I figured it's somewhat traditional for people to have a post major win lapse.

So really I might as well give up...

by ptmcmahon Oh ok I only looked at trades, not original teams. Don't worry, I have Anisimova and Gauff and Raducanu too :) At least you saved a trade then!

Don't give up yet I guess... we can battle for last.

I'm at 33 points so far this week with 2 players left (and 3 trades burnt), and one is the wildcard. Pretty funny if Pliskova winds up my best player this week.

by ptmcmahon Andreeva down to Mboko (who many have.) Pliskova IS my last player.

The 3 players I traded in got me 29 points. This feels like possibly the worst fantasy contest week I've ever had.

by ptmcmahon "Czech Karolina Muchova also reached the quarters when compatriot and former world number one Karolina Pliskova retired injured from their last-16 match when trailing 5-2 in the first set."

63 points for the week after using 3 trades.

by Oploskoffie One of us who is having a better week... jatagen! :D Four active players after that Kalinskaya win!

by ashkor87 sad to see Pliskova unable to continue.. though Muchova is a better player anyway these days..I have a soft corner for these 'oldies'..

by Oploskoffie Soooooo.... With Rybakina out, this week really is on course to become one of the lowest scoring ones (on average) that I can remember

by ptmcmahon it was nice waking up today and not thinking "Which of my players lost today?"

by ponchi101 Enough people have Mboko, Ostapenko and Muchova, so unless Sakkari wins, somebody will score that juicy 100 points win. That should be prize enough.

by ptmcmahon That alone will almost be double my total.
