Since this is a practice pool, I am going to practice my pick commentary. Unfortunately, I am not as snarky as Drop-Shot. Also, the first rounds of Indian Wells and Miami are the worst because there are no seeded players. This means that the margins between the players are usually smaller, and the players are less well known.
Cressey 1 I wonder how much of Cressey's success is due to people not knowing how to play serve and volleyers. Once people figure out how to play against him, he will take a dip in the rankings. However, that probably has not happened yet, and you have a good chance of surviving today.
Galan 1 I have no clue who this guy is.
Griekspoor 1 I think his is playing against the better of the two Cerundolo brothers. This might be a tough match, but you are likely to survive.
Kudla 1 I assume this is in large part picking against Shang. Sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't
Kyrgios 1 The two main questions when picking Nick in a suicide draw pool are 'Am I picking him too soon?' and 'Am I picking him too late?' With his performance at Indian Wells, I suspect that you are picking him too soon. However, you might end up winning the whole pool today, by watching the rest of us die. At least you will make it to tomorrow.
Lajovic 3 I think you are playing the weaker of the two Cerundolo brothers. Some of this is picking against the weaker Cerundolo player, which can be dangerous. You have a decent chance of moving on.

Since this is practice, I'm fine having Act 2, of the WTA pool. We will just have 2 winners (Act 1 & Act 2), but if everyone dies again in just a few days, there will be no Act 3, for I will be done, lol!!

Good point. I gather it was practice in the sense that it is telling us how these WTA pools will be going in the near future. No pick will ever be a safe one.

At this point I have to wonder if it’s getting more of a fools errand to try to beat the draw and just pick people to survive… especially in IW / Miami with so few of us playing. Might try these next year in the practice pool. Although even doing that seems less than 50-50.
