Look at it this way.
Sure, it is Leo Borg. Who is about 80% of what his dad used to be.
Playing Rafa Nadal at age 80 (more or less the current state of his body), which makes it a good equivalent match.
I say it will be telling.
by ashkor87 unless he is 10% of what his Dad used to be !

by nelslus Cressy managed to somehow beat Albot in Newport in a third set tiebreaker- after serving 23!!!!! double faults. Cressy was up a set and a break in the second, then Cressy was down a break twice in the third set. Both unnervingly played terrific and hideous tennis. Both were equal with inconsistency. At times during the second set, especially as the double faults mounted up, Cressy was acting pretty loony- like he was gonna lose his s**t. It WAS.....interesting.

by skatingfan The Newport draw this year is like a throwback to the 70's or early 80's. Every match today, save one doubles match, involved an American.

Nadal vs Borg - to determine who is the master of clay once & for all - okay it`s Leo and not Bjorn, but we got take what we can get.
Look at it this way.
Sure, it is Leo Borg. Who is about 80% of what his dad used to be.
Playing Rafa Nadal at age 80 (more or less the current state of his body), which makes it a good equivalent match.
I say it will be telling.
I hope it was a joke

Probably more players in the European clay tournaments this year due to upcoming Olympics being played on clay.

6 out of the 8 QFists are American, and the other two are Australian

C'mon, laudable indeed. But he is not the first player to ever do that.
And it was only one break. This happens with frequency, and you don't have to be Nadal to do it.

I thought the point was that given his lack of matches, and that he is not the player he was just two years it was a good result, mind you it was against Norrie who is going backward relatively quickly these days.

That has got to be some record. 80 minutes per set is ridiculous.
by skatingfan Nadal trying to become the 2nd player this year to win singles, and doubles at the same tournament.
by Suliso Possibly the very last singles title (#93) of Nadal's career this week.

Nope. Just saw they gave walkover to their doubles opponents.

And if he wins, drop the Olympics. It would be good if the last memory we have of him is hoisting a trophy. Regardless of it being a "smaller" tournament.
Would be good sentimentally.
by ti-amie Rafa won his singles match today and withdrew from doubles.

by ashkor87 Stunning win by Berrettini over Tstsipas!!
by jazzyg It is Berrettini's eighth final on clay. Nothing stunning about it. He's really good on clay.

Good, yes. But not the caliber of Tsitsipas. So it was indeed an upset. Not stunning though.
by ponchi101 Tsitsipas is no longer the same caliber. The injuries have piled up on his body.
by jazzyg When healthy, Berrettini is terminally underrated, particularly as a competitor and clutch-point winner.
by Suliso I think both statements are correct.
by ti-amie Fils beat Zverev. Borges beat Rafa. It's that kind of a day.

Disagree. His BH is weak, specially the slice.
I don't know enough about him to call him a clutch-point winner. I will grant you he competes well.

and QZ beat Muchova.. not a surprise but disappointing for some of us. Rafa losing is not going to be a surprise anywhere from now on..
by ti-amie Impressive point construction and focus by Fils early in the match
After the earlier drama it's good to see this.
