Anisimova. She is crushing the ball. And so far (two matches I have seen), her attitude is very focused.

Anisimova for me as well, but not with a great confidence

Confidence? Who talked about confidence?
Watch her now go out there and get double bageled again. I mean, YOU and I are picking her. How big can an albatross be? ;)

Pegula for me but I would be surprised by any of the three. Tough call.

I'd say the voting reflects the results of the pas season in terms of consistency/averages pretty well - though I myself would mildly question Gauff coming in second.

So yeah, Rybakina won the WTA Finals and things were looking up for her, but that's still a different stage than the slams, especially at the end of a long season. If she proves herself to be as consistent "last four material" as Sabalenka, next year's AO poll will probably provide a rather different outcome.

Yes, but I really question what the previous years and consistency has to do with winning the AO.

So...

1. You were, to me anyway, clearly referencing the outcome of the 2026 Aussie Open WTA. Who you got? poll.

2. The outcome of said poll was to see who thought, hopefully beforehand, who would win the AO on the WTA side of things.

3. In case of such a question, factors are usually taken into consideration. Things like recent form, previous results, surface-specific results, consistency.

4. You seemed surprised only seven people, possibly based on the above and/or other factors, selected Rybakina as a possible winner. More than surprised, even.

5. My counter to that was my previous post, which is my take on why Rybakina only got 7 votes. THAT is how it pertains to her winning the AO. But I guess that was far from obvious.

not really worth arguing about, so I will say no more - just that current form and playing conditions are more imporrtant than last year's consistency and so on, and on those grounds, Rybakina should have been favorite. I did in fact give her 3 votes.
