Sinner was a first time winner this year. That you have forgotten that he was a top player in 23 but not THE top player is odd.
And we had 4 first time finalists in Slams: Qinwen, Paolini, Pegula and Fritz.
So, maybe Sinner is currently holding the tour securely in his hands. But, as was posted somewhere up topic, his dominance of the tour pales in comparison to the dominance held by the R/R/N at some times in their careers.
And the WTA is wide open. You just like your Tiers system.
Krejcikova only has 1 other 1000 title to her name, and sorry to say, lightning struck twice when she won her grand slams, defeating players who aren't really grand slam final caliber having dream runs (although her path to Wimbledon was much more difficult). She wouldn't have finished in the top 10 this year, if not for the stupid rule that slam winners automatically qualify for the YEC. I still wouldn't put her in Tier 1.
not sure about that.. she beat Coco in her first run to the French, and Rybakina at Wimbledon.

lovely analysis by Wilander and OShannesy of that historic Ashe victory over Connors.. it changed the history of tennis - if Ashe hadnt stopped Connors here, Connors would have been unbeatable.

No, it didn't. Sure, it was a very good match. And Ashe played a wonderful game of not engaging Connors in a hard hitting contest.
But Connors, as much as I loved watching him play, was never going to be "unbeatable". He had piers. Borg quickly came into the scene (heck, people forget that Borg won the French in 1974, the same year that Connors won the other three). Nastase had a good record against him. Then Mac and Lendl came along.
The match changed the history of the sport in the sense that it made for great promotion. Connors was heavily favored and yet lost. But he lost to a player that had already won slams. No need to make it more worthy than what it already is.

sounds fair enough and nice that it is players who are voting.. which would be the players' favorite major, I wonder? Probably the AO?

The groups in Next Gen tournament looked unbalanced from the start. Semis results just reinforced this.
