Re: Tennis Random, Random (On Court)
But a very interesting data set. All the bottom tournaments are clay (not surprising). But the first OUTDOOR tournament, in terms of speed, is Halle, on grass, and which tries to have a court as similar as possible to Wimby. The top four are indoors.
Would be interesting to see number of winners (non aces) per set. Could also be a parameter to see.

It is also possible big servers naturally gravitate to play Halle..the metric here is purely aces...

More surprising is Miami being rated faster than the USO..and Cincy..I suspect the culprit is Dimitrov....he reached the finals and served a lot of aces!

Isn't it interesting the surface - clay/grass/hard doesn't seem to matter much in doubles...is it because the ball doesnt hit the ground that much in doubles? I wonder if altitude matters..Madrid, Guadalajara?

A few years ago we were speculating that after the big three are gone there will be a lot of random Slam winners. So far there hasn't been a single one.

I' watching Bengaluru (ITF Women) T. Maria vs. L. Jeanjean. Jeanjean clearly the better player, Maria just playing slice all the time. Jeanjean really frustrated. After Maria wins the match, Jeanjean throws away her racket, hardly shakes hands with Maria and angrily leaves the court. She returns a couple of minutes later, but what a terrible loser...

Some umpires, like today, when they say 'forty' I hear 'thirty'..is it just me?

Let's see how long Alcaraz, and Sinner can dominate the slams, but yes the transition from the big 3 to them has been smoother, and faster than anyone could have anticipated, and another generation looks like it's going to be shut out with the exception of Medvedev's US Open title.

It might make a difference that so far there are only two instead of 3-4.

I was one of those that thought we were going to see more variety. Instead, we went from a Triumvirate to a two party system.
I hope somebody else will step up.

I'm sure someone will. When it looked like it would be all Roger and Rafa along came Djokovic. But who will it be...?
