She's 4th in the Canadian rankings and could be as low as 7th by the time she returns. How would she be eligible?

Hmm.
I didn't realize she had filed for one with the WTA (or tennis Canada). Guess we will see what she does when she comes back - she was in the top 56 when she last played so...

Entry for the Olympics is based on the rankings after the French Open so that's when players would need to decide to use their protected ranking if they needed to.Fastbackss wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 5:23 pm Hmm.

For a guy that was coming up. That is pretty much of a bummer.

^ A bit dramatic on Djokovic's part. I'm sure it hurt somewhat, but probably not enough to fall to fetal.

Apparently he was bleeding from the head, and was noxious, and is being monitored for a concussion after being released from hospital. I don't know if he needed to do go down like that but from a security perspective it was best to protect himself in case it wasn't an accident, and something else was on it's way.Owendonovan wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 3:41 am ^ A bit dramatic on Djokovic's part. Plastic or metal bottle? If plastic, that was no biggie. If metal, that was a big bang.

Metal, but the plastic top part of the bottle is what made contact. Also, It struck me odd to have a full, or any backpack at a tennis match?

Why would that be odd? It is the USO that uses the "security" excuse to forbid you to bring anything into the complex and then gouge your eyes out for a salami sandwich. Other places allow you to bring in your own food and beverages.

Re: Injury and Illness
It's 2024 and any venue attracting a large amount of people discourages bringing anything into their venues. Most of those venues would prefer you buy their drinks and food, not to bring your own. It's not a practical accessory for a tennis match, outside of sunblock and lite jacket maybe, not sure what you need to watch a tennis match that would require a fully packed backpack.
