Dimitrov double-faulted twice in a row to give Holger the break at 4-2 in the fourth. in the next game, he missed a wide-open shot when Holger slipped, got up, and ran to cover the backhand. It didn't have to be that good to win the point. Bad miss.

Looks like 6 out of 8 QF spots will go to the top 8 seeds. Ruud and Tsitsipas failed to claim their place.

For women it's 5 out of 8 with Gauff, Kvitova and Garcia missing. Rankings do mean something after all.

Sure, Novotna's loss against Graf will always be one of the worst losses in history, but the score was close. This time, Petra simply was never able to even get into the match.
....JUST when I thought you were being helpful in my Suliso War. We're just talking about Petra's results at this time. Let's not EVER AGAIN encourage any mention of the dull, dull Steffi. And, please don't confuse Suliso and me during our cat-fight here. :gorgeous:
Potato-Potatoh.
Miss Graf is my favorite player of all time (women) ;)
Anyway, my $0.02 simply reminds that the SCORE was lousy; it says nothing about the quality (Ons did play a few truly highlights-reel shots).

Kind of shocked by the Kvitova/Jabeur result. I low key thought Kvitova was going to win the whole thing.

According to Pam Shriver, Andreeva's racquet throw could damage the grass court, which is why she got the code violation.

This video shows Haddad Maia retiring but there is another video floating around that I can't find that shows when she tweaked her back.

So someone made this a gif...

But did she really throw it, on purpose. She did stumble.
Gray to me.

Wasn't that her second "toss" though?

I would be curious to see an angle of the whole thing where we can see where the chair umpire was looking, because my guess is that he didn't see the slip, and only saw Andreeva swing her racquet over her head, and into the court.

Could very possibly be.
BTW. I know that there are some mentioning of Andreeva being a bit bratty. ESPN L.A. got an interview with her. She explained her situation, admitted that the NO HANDSHAKE was uncalled for, and said that she simply disagreed with the umpire. Very "straight and narrow".
So, at least after the event, she did not sound bratty.
(To me)

Whoever is in charge of her PR gave her the script.

Vondrousova never ceases to amaze me..she has a great forehand..Pegula should stay away from it, Bouzkova could not. If she doesn't manage that, Vondrousova can beat her...50_50 match

Wonder if it is because there have been enough warmup events to let the players get used to grass..last year was anyway unusual...
