He has a chance. Not a huge one, but if he can beat Carlos, he must be playing well.

There is a reason player like Machac is outside top 30. His level of variance is even bigger (relatively) than that of Alcaraz. So the chances that he'll repeat such a good performance are not high.

Goffin enjoying a resurgence..in conditions that suit him, though he is not as fleet-of-foot as he used to be .let us see what he can do against Fritz..40% chance?

I think he is simply developing as a player .I remember Lendl was a bit like him .tall and rangy...he will do well, given time.

Lendl was/is 188. Machac is 183. Considering that average height of tennis players continues to rise each decade, this is a difference that makes us say that Lendl was tall for his time, while Machac is just of average height. But I agree that Machac will get better. He is just not there yet.

Taylor Fritz has turned into a formidable player over the last two years. Now in his prime years. A Slam title is not very likely, but possible with some luck.

In general right now I don't see so much competition for Alcaraz and Sinner. Who's #3 and #4 near term potential wise (not counting Djokovic anymore) on tour anyway?

I don't see anybody joining them as top 4 players.
Rune is too inconsistent and by now, he should have made more noise. Has done well in MS1000's but his slam resumem is very thin.
Ruud simply is too surface specific. He is very, very good on clay, good on hards. I don't know what he is missing but his shots are not forceful enough. He can win a French, but it would be because of a bit of luck and strategy.
Stephanos, Zverev, Medvedev and Rublev have plateau'd. Sure, they can win a slam (Daniil, of course, has) but I don't see them reaching higher rankings. Zverev prophetic words will haunt him: he was one of the million future # 1 that never made it to #1.
Fritz. What you say.
Tiafoe. Too erratic and his strokes are too unreliable.
Shelton. Has the shots, not the consistency.

I remain in my opinion. We are due for a lot of parity. Unless Jannik can sustain this level. Because notice how Alcaraz is fluctuating (he is still good for 10 slams).

You evaded the answer ;) Who's your 2025 year end #3 and #4 (assume Djokovic has retired for simplicity)?

Remember how much I suck at predicting anything.

Alcaraz is going to win a lot more than 10 slams. 20 is the over/under in my view.

We really did get used to these three guys reaching that mark, didn't we? ;)
I don't know. That is a lot of slams, implying a long career. I'll hedge at 14.

Alcaraz will own the French Open almost the way Nadal did.that gives him about 10 right there. Plus 5-6 Wimbledons and a couple each of the AO and USO...close to 20..

I still don't like his serving action though, he could easily get his back injured...so how long will he last,? He is not built like a bull, as Nadal was..so maybe all this won't happen
