I woke up at 5 am this morning with a cold and watched him turn right back around that corner in his loss.

Novak Djokovic posts an MRI to his social media accounts in an attempt to prove his critics wrong about his Australian Open injury.
Djokovic posts MRI scan and takes aim at 'experts' who questioned injury

Novak Djokovic has posted a scan of his injured left hamstring on social media in a none-too-subtle riposte to the "experts" who questioned the authenticity of the injury that forced him to retire from his Australian Open semifinal.

Djokovic was left unimpressed by the booing he received from the Melbourne crowd when he pulled the plug on his match with Alexander Zverev after losing a draining opening set in a tiebreak on Friday.

He explained afterwards that he had suffered a torn muscle, but that was evidently not enough to stop the familiar barrage of conspiracy theories surrounding the injury and criticism of the 24-time grand slam champion on social media.

On Saturday, Djokovic posted a photo of an MRI scan, accompanied by the comment: "Thought I'd leave this here for all the sports injury 'experts' out there."

The 37-year-old offered no extra information, so it was still left unclear what diagnosis he has received after the scan or when he might next hope to be back in action.

During his on-court interview after Djokovic's retirement, Zverev had been quick to jump to the champion's defence.

"I know that everybody paid for tickets and everybody wants to see hopefully a great five-set match," Zverev said.

"But you've got to understand — Novak Djokovic is somebody that has given this sport, for the past 20 years, absolutely everything of his life."

Djokovic had been hurt late in the first set of his previous match, a four-set victory against Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night.

"I did everything I possibly can to basically manage the muscle tear that I had," Djokovic said at his post-match news conference on Friday.

"Towards the end of that first set, I just started feeling more and more pain. It was too much, I guess, to handle for me at the moment. Unfortunate ending, but I tried."

Of those who booed him, he added: "I am doing my best to understand them, but I am not sure whether they understand me or if they even want to understand me.

"I know how my body works, what I feel, and I know how much I've given to this tournament in the past 20-plus years. I will stop here, so that I don't continue [speaking] in the wrong direction."

You're looking at a slice of his thigh (imagine taking a meat slicer mid-thigh). Black circle just to the right of the middle is his femur bone. The light gray all around is his muscle tissue. The bright white just to the left of the bone is the blood from his muscle tear.

Yeah. The white colour is liquid in the form of a local edema, which comes as a response to the tear, hemorrhage and inflammation.

Btw he might have inadvertently confirmed his other injuries back in 2021 and 2023 through this. Notice the dates near the top of the screen above those extra scans have Feb 13 2021 and Feb 22 2021 and both mention a chest MRI, Feb 13 happens to be around/after the 3rd round matches and Feb 22 is one day after the final. I don't see how or why they would issue an MRI after the tournament ended if there was nothing wrong, so that pretty much confirms that injury for me. As for AO 23, he got injured against Med in Adelaide and likely did an MRI there but there's also a date Jan 14 2023 (post AO Qualies and prior to R1) here that I can tell (the ones after are a bit harder to tell) so that makes me think 2023 is confirmed too.

Andreescu's return has been delayed by an appendectomy. She's now targeting the clay court season to come back.

he held some promise for a while. Too bad that a career would end like that.
Hope he can recover and remain in tennis. I say he would be a good coach.
