I was never into One Direction but how could you not know about them? To say I'm shocked is putting it mildly.

I was not the target audience for them, so have limited knowledge, but they were quite pervasive here in the US. In one of the articles I read about Payne's death, it was mentioned that they are the only band in history to have their first four albums debut at #1 on the Billboard charts, so they left their mark.
