I'm watching Qinwen vs Alexandrova but these posts on Carlitos vs Grigor keep coming.

Like I said earlier in the tournament. I want a haircut stat. My cute Borna has been greatly diminished imo with this change.

Yup, 100% electronic line calling is going to be awesome. Not a damn thing has changed about that tech, this is going to be so problematic on clay when you can see the mark and the machine is trying to tell you, no no, the sky is green.

Today's ATP heavyweight bout. Bernardes has been trying to stop Rune from being dq'd throughout. I don't know if I agree with that.

Foki takes him out, in what seems to have been a scorcher.
Hope they will at least show the highlights later tonight. They showed NOTHING during the weekend.

My high opinion of Alexandrova is not a joke now, is it? I hope folks here are willing to acknowledge she is a good player!

ashkor87 wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 8:52 am Sakkari vs Badosa...how do they compare? Badosa is in better form right now but ...I have always felt Sakkari is better defensively than Badosa but will that matter on this surface? Hard to tell ...if it gets close, Badosa is tougher mentally than Sakkari is..
Of course, in the larger scheme, it may not matter..it will still come down to Swiatek and Sabalenka, probably...
Claiming that Badosa is tougher than Sakkari forgets Badosa's penchant for retirements. I will borrow from your "Tier" system and will say that they are both Tier 2 players, with Badosa having one important tournament that Sakkari lacks (that IW win) and Sakkari being a bit more consistent, with deeper results at slams.
Very similar. I included Sakakri in my TSiP team because of that consistency. But that match may go a long way, because I don't see either being able to hit through the other. Very long rallies, and most likely 3 sets.
Agree with you but would you not say retirement in a match is a sign of physical frailty, not mental? Sakkari has a tendency to blow leads just when she is about to win...Badosa doesn't do that...not that I am a big fan of Badosa's.
