In any slam tournament, given that everyone takes it seriously, any of the 3 best players have a good chance...the rest, only an outside chance. I can see Alcaraz, Sinner, Medvedev and Zverev being there, the others, not so much. So Fritz has a chance but less than 10%..among Americans, I would say Korda, Michelsen, Shelton have more upside...as do Mensik and Machac.

I still don't like his serving action though, he could easily get his back injured...so how long will he last,? He is not built like a bull, as Nadal was..so maybe all this won't happen
Those are high expectations.
If he does that, it would mean, as you say, a career as accomplished as the careers of the Big Three. I am not ready to give him that level of confidence.

Sinner vs Djokovic now...on the fastest court in the system ..Sinner should win...though Djokovic is very good on these too...just that he is no longer in his prime..

I hope it is now clear to everyone that Fritz is not in the same class as Djokovic, Sinner, Alcaraz

Since when has it not been clear? But that does not mean he is a poor player, or that he has not improved in the last years.
It is not just B&W. We have a lot of shades in this sport.
And he lost 4 & 6. Not like he was creamed on court, today.

I think with Fritz the mental scar tissue against Djokovic is very obvious. Up a mini-break in the tie-break and he double faults, and there were a couple of wayward forehands as well that just don't happen against most other players.

I don't think a single person would argue against that.

That said, all three of the players you mentioned are currently in different classes.

Please expand. I would say that Carlos and Sinner are in the same class.
Djokovic is in a different class forever.

I feel like Carlos has had sustained success that Sinner has not yet had, plus isn't the verdict still out on whether or not Jannik's been doping?

People here keep thinking/hoping ..didn't you? That Fritz would beat Sinner at the USO? Fact is, he had no chance against Sinner

No one here thought Fritz was going to beat Sinner at the US Open - I don't think there any big Fritz fans here either.

I wrote that Fritz is a very good player, maybe with a chance for a Slam title with some luck. Doesn't that clearly mean that he's a level below Sinner and Alcaraz???

Anyway a very tight much between the past champion and the current one. No break points in the first set (total points 36-37), but Jannik takes the tiebreak 7-4.

Before the Open final, yes, I gave him a chance. Never said he would, I said he could.
And it is always easier to say he had no chance after the fact. Like when you gave Iga 65% chance of winning the USO, and now I could say that she never had a chance because she did not even make the semis. But, it is so easy to make predictions about the past.
As Suliso said. We are saying he is a good player and with some luck, he could win a slam (Botic does him a favor, and some other obscure factor happens). Hey, Andres Gomez is a slam winner, as is Gaston Gaudio. No reason why Fritz or somebody else can't catch a break.
(WADA wins their appeal and Jannik is suspended for the Aussie. And Carlitos losses to Botic and Novak to Popyrin).
