In all civilized countries, every ambulance, sports venue or large facility has an AED. So he must have received treatment promptly.
They say that all the medical personnel from both teams were attending them. I assume they took turns at CPR, which is a very physically demanding activity, so it must have been uninterrupted. That's would help his chances a lot. And, of course, all NFL teams have oxygen bottles on the sidelines, which is another plus.
One thing that I like: there are reports that the ambulance waited for his mother to arrive before taking him to the hospital. That is a good sign; the "urgency" had declined to that level. He must have been stabilized by then. All in all, a very serious event, but his chances must be acceptable. One good piece of news: there are no reports about him this early in the morning. Let's hope it translates into "no news = good news".

And, as you say. Everybody united in this. Something to consider for the "we are the most despicable scum in the entire universe" crowd. Last night, humanity delivered.

I can confirm they had an AED on the field. That was one of the earlier details to emerge during last night's reports.

Troy Vincent claims there was never a "five minute warmup" command given, and based on none of the Bengals even starting to warm up, I'll believe him.

BTW, if you're ever looking for solid, respectful reporting on southern Ohio/northern Kentucky sports that reflects journalistic integrity and traditional journalistic standards with no sensationalism or speculation, look up Joe Danneman, a sports reporter for the local FOX affiliate in Cincinnati.

Meanwhile, here's a statement from the Hamlin family that was retweeted by Joe.

Joe Burrow, Bengals went to Bills locker room to check on players during suspension.
As any respectable human in that circumstance should. Nice to see his example.

I hope Hamlin recovers enough to see his foundation went from $2,500 to almost $7,000,000. I think running that full time is a better option for him than football.

The NFL will not resume the Bills-Bengals game that was suspended Monday night after Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin collapsed and went into cardiac arrest on the field, two people familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Both people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the league is still figuring out how to determine playoff seedings and scheduling. The NFL Players Association must approve changes.

The Bills-Bengals game had major playoff implications.

Sad to say it, but if Damar is awake and now that the game is being postpned... think the ugliness of fans is about to come back (ie people talking like Skip Bayless.)

Nobody gets to play at such a level, in any sports, without being very, very competitive.
That he asked about the game would be normal. He is/was the least informed person about what happened. Probably woke up and thought it was MONDAY NIGHT still.
Great he is back and conscious.
