U.S. televangelist, scam artist, and morally bankrupt grifter, Jimmy Swaggart, is dead. He was 90.

Didn't really know where to put it. I infortunatley got some horrible news. Many of you from TAT 1.0 will remember Jessie who was a long-time member and used to join for the Indian Wells meetups. Unfortunately, Jessie has passes away from an illness (looks like maybe a bacterial infection). He would have been maybe mid-30s.

I don't have much more detail, am trying to learn if there is any obituary page or similar.

Thank you for this; there was already (and unfortunately) a dedicated thread for Jessie which you can find here: viewtopic.php?t=2788 Also, see your PM inbox.

Felix Baumgartner, of skydiving fame, died in a paragliding accident in Italy.
He was famous for his stratosphere dive (24 miles up), and got killed in what I believe is the most insane of all extreme sports.
Certainly, a very brave man.

Paragliding is the most extreme? You must have not heard of base jumping and wingsuit flying.

I thought paragliding was the same as wingsuit. Got confused because here we call it PARAPENTE.
And yes, I agree with you. Wingsuit is the most extreme and the most insane. You are basically at the edge of control, at over 200 MPH. Insane.

He was 54. I'm hearing he got caught in a rip current? The article says high current. These are dangerous no matter your level of swimming expertise.

Theo Huxtable is still one of the most memorable TV sitcom sons. May he Rest in Peace.
Sign a rip current is present

A narrow gap of darker, seemingly calmer water flanked by areas of breaking waves and whitewater. A channel of churning/choppy water that is distinct from surrounding water. A difference in water color, such as an area of muddy-appearing water (which occurs from sediment and sand being carried away from the beach).

The NY Times is reporting Ozzy Osbourne has died. He was 76. (I didn't say anything, but I'm still smarting over Malcolm.)

Osbourne had been suffering from advanced stage Parkinson's disease that had left him unable to walk. He was able to perform one last farewell concert with Black Sabbath earlier this month, which leads me to believe that this was not unexpected. RIP

The only thing unexpected is that it was so soon after he performed. Nevertheless it's always nice when someone gets to have a huge send-off like that.

His sickness was bad enough that he couldn't stand for show and performed sitting... on a throne. Even there the Prince of Darkness pulls off a cool way to finish.

Actress Loni Anderson has died following “an acute, protracted illness” at age 79. She was best known for WKRP in Cincinnati. She was also married to Burt Reynolds in the 80’s and I have a murky childhood memory of them filming a game show in their living room.
