But, if you say so, I accept that.
But that means she was already a 13 time Slam champion. Not that Mouratoglou made that much of an improvement.
Serena started working with, and dating Mouratoglou in 2012 after losing in the 1st round of the French Open. He is the only coach she had outside of her parents. I don't know how significant he was to her success later in her career, but Serena feels he was very important based on interviews that she has done including the recent ESPN series.

PM may be exactly the kind of coach Osaka needs. She is a champion, like Serena, she needs someone who can build a champion..or restore one, as he did with Serena. Unlike Coco, she has no technical flaws to be fixed...

As expected, Coco has ditched Brad Gilbert

On the Mourataglou-Serena topic, she absolutely played the best tennis of her career with him as coach, and it was not even close. I'm not saying it had everything or even that much to do with him, but she started focusing all the time instead of sporadically and played incredibly smart tennis. It may have been that she realized as great as her career had been, she was capable of more, and she delivered. Her performance at the Olympics in 2016 (at Wimbledon) was easily the best tournament I've ever seen a female player have.

Agreed - 2012 Olympics, but your point stands.

She will definitely benefit from a decent coach who can teach her shot selection

Coco needs a technical coach, Parks needs Someone like Gilbert. Both good moves!

Coco has hired Matt Daly as coach ..anyone know anything about him? He seems to be a college coach, which may be just right for Coco ..basic technique...

Completely unknown to me.
Maybe somebody a bit more low key than Gilbert is the right choice. Heck, anybody that can teach a serve.

Osaka? I mean, she did only make $15M last year due to mat leave, quite a drop from the $50M in 2022... I think she'll survive paying Mouratoglou
