He is usually such a jerk.
And then he does this and... man, he is weird (in the good sense).

Gauff said today that she and Matt Daly have a plan to focus solely on her serve and baseline aggression through the end of the year. They will be workshopping on court in live matches, and not focused on wins or losses.

Sinner-Alcaraz is a good test of the court speed theory. The court is on the slow side, slightly in Alcaraz' favor.

Pegula may have been tired too..she has played a lot. Actually, I AM mildly surprised..I always thought it takes a Tier 1 player to beat Pegula, and Badosa isn't one .

Osaka led by a set and a break when her back acted up .we will have to wait for the next occasion

watching video of Keys -Sabalenka.. they are very similar players, arent they, except Sabalenka's service return is far superior..Keys gave a good account pf herself, though.

A "wild" prediction - Sabalenka will easily overtake Swiatek for year end #1. Might even go undefeated the rest of the year (unlikely).

He has said things on court that were less than palatable. Has gotten into very heated arguments with some chair umpires.
I can't start looking up some samples but, during his Aussie run to the final against Rafa, his rant on court about Aussie's being drunks (especially coming from a Russian) was, let's say, a bit odd.
On the other side, his comment after losing to Rafa at the USO was golden.

So, the court speed was the difference in a match that went 7-6 (3) in the third.
Alcaraz won 5 more points in the 3rd set. Take out the difference of 4 in the TB, and they played 12 games so evenly that the difference was 1 point.
But, numbers are numbers. And you did say it was a slight favorable setting for Alcaraz.

But the Aussie crowd was in fact drunk and ill-behaved!

Court speed will make a difference when the players are very evenly matched, and over many many matches.
