Re: Talk about the NFL
I just watched Kendrick Lamarr's half time show. He got a lot in there. I've never seen him perform before. It's not my genre of music but he put on a good show.

Anybody want to make a preseason Super Bowl prediction? I'm guessing Ravens over Lions myself.

I would have said this was a solid bet until I saw the Ravens get worked over yesterday and Lamar injured

Re: Talk about the NFL
Right now, predicting the SB teams is super tough.
I say the NFC has just two teams: Lions and Eagles. But for the AFC... Buffalo? Maybe?

Re: Talk about the NFL
It was announced that Bad Bunny, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, will perform half time at the Super Bowl. Bad Bunny is from Puerto Rico and is a US citizen.
Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl halftime performer is an obvious - and subversive - choice

Perhaps Kendrick Lamar was speaking to the present and the future when he said during his Super Bowl halftime performance months back that “the revolution ‘bout to be televised.”
The announcement Sunday that superstar Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny will headline the next Super Bowl halftime show marks the second time in a row that the National Football League has co-signed an artist who is deemed “controversial” by some of the league’s supporters.
Lamar, a rapper from Compton, California, angered some conservative viewers with the political symbolism he utilized during his performance at Super Bowl LIX in February..
Some of the costumes, choreography and Lamar’s lyrics referenced systemic inequality and racism in the United States, all while the game was attended by President Donald Trump.
But while Lamar has mostly used his art to express his sentiments, Bad Bunny has been more overt about his dissatisfaction with the current administration.
In 2024, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her campaign for the presidency against Trump. He reposted a video of Harris in a speech referencing Trump’s leadership during his first term in office after Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017.
“I will never forget what Donald Trump did and what he did not do when Puerto Rico needed a caring and a competent leader,” Harris said in the video. “He abandoned the island, tried to block aid after back-to-back devastating hurricanes and offered nothing more than paper towels and insults.”
Bad Bunny, whose non-stage name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, made the post after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s remarks at a Trump rally in New York City in which he referred to Puerto Rico, a US commonwealth, as “a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean.”
Later, during an appearance on the New York Times “Popcast” podcast, Ocasio explained that he was “angry at the time” as he was in New York City while the rally where Hinchcliffe made his comments was being held at nearby Madison Square Garden.
Ocasio said he found the incident “bothersome.”
“Yeah, I know it was a comedian, blah, blah, blah, but that wasn’t a standup comedy show,” Ocasio said. “It was supposed to be a political rally.”
The music video for Bad Bunny’s single “NUEVAYol” took aim at some of Trump’s harsher policies, while also paying tribute to the artist’s native Puerto Rico.
Ocasio recently told i-D magazine that he purposely did not include the continental United States in his 2025-2026 concert tour out of fear that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could potentially raid the concert venues.
“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate—I’ve performed there many times,” he told the publication. “All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the US.”
US residents could travel to Puerto Rico for his residency performances (which has been an economic boon for his homeland), but the global superstar said he was not willing to pose a possible risk for his fans.
“But there was the issue of—like, f**king ICE could be outside [my concert],” Ocasio said. “And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
His selection for the Super Bowl halftime show has incensed some on the right who have criticized Ocasio as a “Trump hater.”
It’s certainly not the first time the NFL has had to deal with cultural controversy.
In 2016, Colin Kaepernick, the then San Franciso 49ers quarterback, sparked debate after he began kneeling during the National Anthem at the beginning of his games in protest of police brutality and racial inequality in the US.
He was released from the team and his perceived subsequent treatment by the NFL when no other teams picked him up, resulted in calls for a boycott.
The league moved to sooth public anger in 2019 by announcing a partnership with rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation. As part of the deal, Jay-Z was made live music entertainment strategist in charge of producing the halftime show and aiding the NFL with social justice initiatives.
The deal was extended in 2024.
Jay-Z was initially met with criticism for agreeing to work with the NFL. He defended his decision during a 2019 interview.
“The NFL has a great big platform, and it has to be all-inclusive,” Jay-Z said at the time. “They were willing to do some things, to make some changes, that we can do some good.”
That inclusivity has been on display with the selections of both Lamar and Ocasio, the latter of whom Jay-Z praised in a statement tied to the announcement.
“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring,” Jay-Z said. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
Ironically, one of the Super Bowl performances that had the biggest backlash regarding its presentation of politics was Jay Z’s wife, superstar Beyoncé, when she performed at the halftime show during Super Bowl 50 in 2016 and paid tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Super Bowl LX is scheduled to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Re: Talk about the NFL
Like most weeks in the NFL, what I was thinking 1-2 weeks ago is completely different than now. In the AFC the Chargers were looking really good... and then just lost to a rookie QB in his first start who lost his best WR. The Chiefs were looking cooked... and now look like they are back. I never really believed in the Colts, so I'd say the AFC is between Buffalo and whoever comes out of the AFC West (Denver also looking good.) Lamar's injury makes Baltimore really questionable.
Two weeks ago I was printing Super Bowl tickets for my Packers... then we had a what didn't seem to be too bad loss to Cleveland...and now a tie to Dallas? Through three weeks we had maybe the #1 defense, and then Dallas put up 40 without Ceedee Lamb. Philadelphia are a very mystifying 4-0 - often not looking very good at all. A lot of other teams look pretty good too, Detroit, Seattle, Tampa, Rams, and San Fran have all looked like contenders in the NFC. I have zero idea how the NFC is going to wind up right now!

ICE officers to attend Super Bowl after Bad Bunny announcement, says Lewandowski
by Filip Timotija - 10/01/25 5:55 PM ET
mmigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will attend the 2026 Super Bowl, where Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny is set to headline the halftime show, according to Corey Lewandowski, an adviser at the Department of Homeland Security.
“There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else,” Lewandowski said Wednesday on “The Benny Show.”
“We will find you. We will apprehend you. We will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you. So know that that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to what how it used to be,” he said.
The NFL confirmed Sunday that Bad Bunny, a three-time Grammy winner, will headline the halftime show at the 2026 Super Bowl, set to be in Santa Clara, Calif.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown … this is for my people, my culture and our history,” Bad Bunny said in a statement Sunday.
Last month, Bad Bunny told i-D Magazine that he is not performing in the U.S. during his forthcoming world tour due to, in part, concerns over ICE raids at his concerts.
“But there was the issue of — like, f‑‑‑ing ICE could be outside [my concerts]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” the artist told the magazine.
Lewandowski, who worked as Trump’s campaign manager during the 2016 election, slammed the NFL for picking Bad Bunny to headline the event next year.
“It’s so shameful that they’ve decided to pick somebody who just seems to hate America so much to represent them at the halftime game,” he said.
“I was at the Super Bowl last year with President Trump. I had the chance to be in Louisiana in his box and watch the game, and got to enjoy that,” Lewandowski told Benny Johnson. “But listen, we should be trying to be inclusive and not exclusive. There are plenty of great bands and entertainment people out there who could be playing at that show that would be bringing people together and not separating them.”
“I don’t care if it’s a concert for Johnny Smith or Bad Bunny or anybody else. We’re going to do enforcement everywhere. We are going to make Americans safe. That is a directive from the president. If you’re in this country illegally, do yourself a favor: go home.”

Re: Talk about the NFL
The "controversy" over choosing Bad Bunny for the SB show goes on.
Philosopher and social scientist Danica Patrick has stated that "No songs in English should not be allowed".
Mind you. I believe that the real crime here is that Bad Bunny will perform; the man is a menace to the concept of music. But that is not what is being talked about.
Danica believes that in the USA, no songs in English should not be allowed (a strange way to phrase it). In the meantime, for almost a century, songs in English have swamped the world, to the delight of millions. Music is a fantastic ambassador for all cultures, and great English speaking musicians have been adored around the world.
But, no. One Puerto Rican rapper sings at the SB and it will be the demise of America.
Maybe MTG is right. Time for a divorce?
(But who gets to keep Hawaii?)

Re: Talk about the NFL
Re the Bad Bunny situation I find it odd that so far, and I haven't checked today, no MSM is reporting on the intention of ICE to actively attend the SB in search of prey. I've seen it on the Citizen app and that's it.
If that is indeed true it shows that "they" do not understand that being Puerto Rican Bad Bunny is a US citizen. I'm not sure if the people of Central and South America are huge fans of him. I guess because "they all speak Spanish they're all the same" to some. It's an ugly situation.

NFL is not reconsidering Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show, Goodell says

iHeartRadio Music Awards at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles
By — Stephen Whyno, Associated Press
NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL is not considering dropping Bad Bunny as its Super Bowl halftime headline performer, Commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday, reaffirming a decision to put the Grammy-winning Puerto Rican artist on the league’s biggest stage that led to criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump and some of his supporters.
Goodell addressed the Bad Bunny controversy at his news conference following the annual fall owners meeting. It is the first time he has commented on the move announced in late September that garnered worldwide attention, including an increase in streams of Bad Bunny’s music, along with backlash.
“It’s carefully thought through,” Goodell said. “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
The 31-year-old born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio has been vocal in his opposition to Trump and his policies. He decided to do a 31-day residency in Puerto Rico, avoiding stops in the mainland U.S., citing concerns about the mass deportation of Latinos.
He performs in Spanish and is expected to do so at the Super Bowl.
“We’re confident it’s going to be a great show,” Goodell said, acknowledging there could be more talent added to the lineup along with Bad Bunny. “He understands the platform that he’s on, and I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment.”
The San Francisco 49ers are hosting the Super Bowl on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. It is unclear if Trump plans to be there, though he has made appearing in person at major sporting events a significant part of his second term in the White House.
Trump in an interview on conservative news network Newsmax said he had “never heard of” Bad Bunny.
“I don’t know who he is,” Trump said. “I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s, like, crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Goodell defended the decision on Wednesday, explaining it was made because of Bad Bunny’s immense popularity.
“He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world,” Goodell said. “That’s what we try to achieve. It’s an important stage for us. It’s an important element to the entertainment value.”
