Schwartzmann leaves the court after blowing 5 set points in the tiebreak, and the fans are treated to an extended shot of Tiafoe sitting shirtless on the sideline

Medvedev vs Kyrgios. I'll be surprised if neither reaches the final.

I say it is the match that decides the top half. In the bottom, Rafa looks very solid, especially after tonight's training session goes to form.

Probably Nadal, but in the bottom half there are a couple other serious candidates.

As. Calvin said - the world can't end tomorrow, it is already tomorrow in Australia...
It is already tomorrow in SP!! And where I live...

The interesting matchups today are Med ,- kyrgios and to a lesser extent, jabeur kudermetova...good test of how good Kudermetova is.
Alcaraz and Azarenka very impressive in their wins, much easier than I expected..

Do not count out PCB in this half. He has been playing the best tennis of his life and already has reached semis twice.

I haven't, for sure. Why I haven't chosen him as a pick yet.

(Also, he COULD lose to Khachanov, who has a winning record against him).

Crazy stat - Zhang Shuai was 0-14 in Grand Slams before she got her first win, over Halep at the 2016 Australian Open. And she made the quarters.

Zhang is the oldest player left in the draw at 33, and Coco is the youngest at 18.

Garcia continues to play at a high level.

AND Alison has been an absolute disaster today. Alison had a 3-0 record against Garcia. She hadn't even lost a set until today. Makes sense, though. Alison has been very lucky IMO to have made it this far. Caroline was well into double-digit errors in the first set. But, one horrendous service game from 4-5 in the first set- and that was that. Based on this match alone- one would have no idea how well Caroline is playing. But- obviously, she is on a huge hot streak,

She struggled to close it out, but what a difference it makes to have a legitimate service motion--especially at critical junctures in big matches on big stages. Well done, Caroline.

And she may very well have more wins in her this week.
