Is New England Nitemare a reference to Matt Patricia and Joe Judge attempting to coach the offense?

I definitely deserved that. I shouldn't have posted that without looking into the situation. My bad and my error, and I should have known betterImprobabledream wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 5:41 am Is New England Nitemare a reference to Matt Patricia and Joe Judge attempting to coach the offense?
I'm sorry about that. You have every right to be mad at me. I feel terrible. I was wrong.

TMQ has been slacking on our recap duties because a) summer and b) we are not used to writing this much because everyone is usually dead far before this, but will catch everything up today

I guess before this second match had started Tog had already clinched the pool. Either Swiatek loses and he was only one to survive today, which nearly happened - or now as it turns out he is only one with a pick for finals I think. If so.. congrats Tog! (assuming the pick is "made" of course )

5 remain--but do they have picks left? At any rate, take a day off and enjoy the men's semis, which I think will be much more fulfilling.

Re: 2022 USOSP UPDATED Women's Picks & Results Thread
And now for the promised loser critiques. Was your loser DANK or STANK? Let's delve in!
R16 Losers
Victoria Azarenka (6 victims) DANK Azarenka made the most of her draw to get a decent result for her these days, and was smashing the cover off the ball in her matches. TMQ thought she would blast past Pliskova, who seems to have slipped a notch from the list of elite players, but too many UFEs did her in.
Petra Kvitova (6 victims) STANK No one really talks about Pegula as a top player, even though she has made the QF or better of 7 grand slam/1000 level events this year. Kvitova's matches were giving TMQ panic attacks to watch with their wild momentum swings, and she was on borrowed time here. There was no way she was going to hit through an in form player (at least then) like Jessica.
Liudmila Samsonova (5 victims) DANK Samsonova played well all summer and was poised to go pretty deep her, but Tomljanovic was playing inspired tennis all tournament and her determination and forehand were too much to handle.
Danielle Collins (1 victim) DANK TMQ will award this a light, uninformed DANK. Collins was coming back from a neck injury and her form was a big unknown. She played at a pretty high level, though--maybe? TMQ must admit to not watching many of her matches because they are too screamy, but she was winning them in a fairly straightforward fashion.
QF Losers
Karolina Pliskova (4 victims) DANK This was TMQ's pick, so obviously he was correct and Pliskova was wrong, a position she often occupies.
Coco Gauff (2 victims) DANK TMQ predicts grand slam victory will happen for her next year.
Jessica Pegula (2 victims) STANK Out of nowhere, Jessica went from a 3-1 lead in the first to suddenly not being able to put a ball in the court or hold serve. Props to her though for drinking a Heineken during her post-match presser, and bowing out with this quip:
SF Losers
Caroline Garcia (1 victim) STANK That match literally was over before TMQ even knew it had started.
There! Nelslus said it couldn't be done, but TMQ lives to prove him wrong. Good luck to the remaining 5, if you have anyone left to pick for the final...buahahahahahahaha

Ajla Tomljanovic (1 victim) STANK TMQ suspects this person was going for the win, since nearly every remaining player picked Jabeur that day. Swing and a miss.D’Arcy Maine of ESPN.com: Hi, Jessica, sorry about the loss. I like the Heineken.
Pegula: Thanks. I’m trying to pee for doping — although it does help ease the loss.

Congratulations, Togtdyalttai and well done. I ran out of picks with Swiatek last night, but I was happy to go this far. Thanks to all who run the pools and YCWJ.
