Just me, or has Rune put on some fair amount of muscles on that frame?

After the match, Rublev jokingly said that the banana won him 2 extra games...

Vondrousova's arms look like she was attacked by a group of children with crayons.
1 set all with Linda Fruhvirtova...

Sabalenka won the 1st set off former doubles partner Mertens.
On serve in the 2nd...

Vondrousova either got injured or started cramping, she won the 2nd set and was up 3-1 in the third when whatever it is started to happen. The female commentator (the male commentator would've gone in the other, more realistic direction) after talked about Fruhvirtova being such a great competitor and fighting to get to the next round as if she had to do something besides get the ball in the court. Vondrousova lost 11 of 12 points at one point. She could barely move.

Linda's a talented teen and seems to be set up to have a good career ahead of her. But it's hard to say with any certainty that she'd have won this match without Vondrousova going down in that manner and it was Linda's fight and skill that got her thru.

Quite an ending to the Fruhvirtova-Vondrousova match.

Fruhvirtova was down a break and facing a break point at 1-3 in the third set, then won three straight points to hold. As she came off for the changeover, she called for the trainer. She hadn't previously shown any restrictions on court, but it became apparent that she had a muscle problem with her upper leg. She got some stretching, massage and then they wrapped the thigh. Then about two or three points into her service game, Vondrousova suddenly had a problem with her hip or upper leg. She was obviously in a lot of discomfort after points, and had difficulty moving during them. But she never asked for assistance from the trainer, and thus only won a handful of points as the 17-year old Fruhvirtova ran off four more games for the victory.

^ Vondrousova took a medical time out between the 2nd and 3rd sets to have her feet taped up due to apparent blistering.
Her feet were already taped when she removed her shoes and socks between the 2nd and 3rd sets (I don't know if that was done pre-match or earlier in the match), and the trainer added more tape to the existing tape.

Siegemund over Garcia 6-1 in the 1st set.
I don't think anyone saw this coming. Siegemund's ranking is below 150 right now, but she's been as high as about #30.
She is playing well, and simply has Garcia puzzled right now. When Garcia is puzzled, she often becomes more aggressive, taking balls very early, and going for winners quickly. We'll see what happens...

Bautista Agut over Murray in the 1st set by the same score as the above match.
This is less of a surprise, given that Murray has been on the court for a total of about 68 hours in his first 2 matches.
Or it could be that Andy is simply tanking the first 2 sets in order to have Roberto right where he wants him. :)

Shelton over Popyrin 6-3 in the 1st...
And Djokovic a break ahead of Dimitrov - 5-3 in the 1st.

Novak is starting to struggle with the leg - having difficulty crossing the left leg in front of the right, and moving to the forehand - still ahead on the scoreboard - 5-4 serving for the set.

.

Garcia rallies to take the 2nd set 6-3.
Garcia has two breaks, and Siegemund has one in the 3rd - 4-3 Garcia...

Djokovic won the 1st set tiebreak over Dimitrov. But Dimitrov had a set point at 6-5 (before the tiebreak).
Once again, Djokovic came through when it mattered most.
On serve early in the 2nd...

Murray somehow stayed even with Bautista Agut through the 2nd set to get it to a tiebreak, which Murray won 9-7, after coming back from 4-6.
Lots of long rallies in the tiebreak - Roberto trying to tire Andy out. Will it work in the long run?

Shelton won the 2nd set tiebreak over Popyrin, and is up 2 sets to love now.
on serve in the 3rd - 3-3.

Garcia over Siegemund, 6-3 in the 3rd.
As is her custom now, she got more aggressive, and it paid off.
The last game was interesting, with Siegemund getting called for 2 time violations on her serve - the first one a warning, and the second one a loss of first serve. It was back & forth with a few deuces in that game.
Siegemund played well - the match was fairly even. The main difference, once again, was Garcia bearing down when she needed to - just as she did vs. Leylah 2 days ago.

Shelton beat Popyrin in straight sets - 6-4 in the 3rd...

Murray - Bautista Agut on serve halfway through the 3rd after splitting the first two sets...

Djokovic now 2 sets to love over Dimitrov - 6-3 in the 2nd.

He may not be able to run hard to the forehand corner, but Novak served really well & won in straight sets.

Alize, Bianca and a few others are drama queens. That is accepted.
Novak may not be in their league, but he can certainly play Hamlet or Othello.
