That was brutal.

That said don't forget how Naomi was attacked and vilified for her stance at the very same RG. It's too bad she wasn't offered the same "private press conference" Sabalenka was.

While I agree that players should have interviews, it is getting to be too much. You give an interview when you win, you give an interview when you lose, you get interviewed on your way to the court, you give interviews prior to the tournament, on and on.
How many times do you have to give an interview?

Did Osaka ask for that? She announced that she was doing the press conferences, and as I understand it gave no information as to the reason to the tournament until later. I don't think she was looking for special treatment, and her initial statement, as I recall, said that she would accept the consequences, i.e. fines that such an action would receive.

You can't ask for what you don't know exists.

True enough, though I don't think Osaka would have taken the option if it did exist because I really think she didn't want, or intend to draw that much attention to herself. I don't think she anticipated at all what the reaction would be to her decision. I also think this is a good example of why the players need a proper player union that could be working on, and negotiating these sort of things.

Really don't see why media is so very important...TV and streaming have taken over anyway...I never read or watch the interviews anyway..how many people do?

Nice to see Andreescu and Svitolina rolling along nicely...Andreescu has a good shot at reaching the QFs...
BHM vs Alexandrova is the most intriguing match for me...contrast of styles....

Wow Ashkor I didn't know you were part of the TAT Jinx Crew! Andreescu went down 1&1 to...just checking...Tsurenko who hasn't done much the last couple of years.
