wow! packed field.. WTA 1000 so it is to be expected, I suppose.. Opportunity for Swiatek and Rybakina to redeem themselves, after a poor show at the AO.. Rybakina was probably injured, so she will bounce back - cant figure out what went wrong with Iga.. too many forehand errors, and poor second serve, which was always a problem, espcially on high-bounce hard courts.. she can get away with that spun serve on clay but on hard courts, that much spin doesnt help - the ball just sits up and begs to be hit.

I hope Sabalenka continues her run here..it is the kind of medium-paced court she will do well on..she certainly seems to have grown in confidence, which reflects even in the way she moves to the ball .this version of Sabalenka should be awesome ..very hard to beat

Yes - qualifying starts tomorrow. Collins lost today and is supposed to play Birrell tomorrow in qualifying.
