by meganfernandez Congratulations to the Sweet 16! You did what 125 other SPers couldn't do and stuck to the most uninspired high-percentage choices for 9 days to arrive at this point - so tantalizingly close to a medal but yet so very painfully far. The next three rounds tossed up no gimmes with the top seeds and favorites remaining. Who will survive??

by joanjettson That's an impressive QF roster - well done everyone - bora!
by ponchi101 I like Alvinlimtc's position. That Deminaur pick was superb.
by ktothem1 Djokovic withdraws (torn meniscus). Ruud through to the semifinals?
by ptmcmahon Yup. That means only Alvinlimtc and Cyborgshoes (see edit below) will be able to beat draw as they are the only ones with Ruud left - since all of us will be picking from Zverev vs de Minaur we'll be out of picks on this half after tomorrow.

Yes, 14 SPers can blame the grounds crew like Djokovic did for not maintaining the courts, causing an injury, and wrecking the pool in the quarters. The French ALWAYS find a way to curse.
by ptmcmahon After his first near loss I was tempted to switch and take him before Ruud... guess I should have!
Oh well, easy SP thread for tomorrow. And for three two people only one choice to make anyway so don't even have to think about the pick.

Looks like to me that only Alvinlimtc can beat the draw, Cyborgshoes would only have Sinner left for Semis
by ptmcmahon Remember we only need one semi pick and one final pick so they can us Sinner in semi or in final. They would pick Zverev tomorrow, then would have Ruud and Sinner left for their two picks in whatever order they want.
Oops. You are right that cyborg can't beat draw ... but they won't even make semis, they won't be able to pick anyone tomorrow since they already picked both Zverev and de Minaur.
Only Alvin can beat the draw now. That De Minaur pick is looking even better now.
by CyborgShoes I can’t beat the draw but I could theoretically still pick Ruud for tomorrow? And Sinner for semis? (Assuming I even survive with Tsitsipas now… I really went rogue!)
by CyborgShoes Or is it I can’t pick Ruud because he’s not actually playing a match, and everyone has to pick from the one match that is being played? What if one of Zverev or de Minaur pulled out also, would everyone get a pass? Fine with however it goes but I’m just curious!
by ptmcmahon Yeah Ruud won't be playing so you won't be able to pick him tomorrow. If Djokovic had withdrawn after the thread was posted you probably could have made the pick before he withdrew.
by pudding So what happens if we all get through to semis and then Alcaraz beats Sinner? Do all 12 or 13 of us who pick CA in the semis and HD for no pick left just tie?
by ptmcmahon In your scenario then yes, anyone who makes the semis and picks Alcaraz will tie. If Alvin picks Ruud in semis and Ruud wins, Alvin ties as well.
by Alvinlimtc Must be first time in SP history that there is a walkover in quarters or later? Seems those who choosing their picks based on. Zverev winning FO is hard done by! But rules are rules....
by NatLee Looks like I still have Zverev for tomorrow. Never got this far!
by pudding Is the Day 11 men’s picks up? Can’t find it.
by ktothem1 I can't find day 11 picks either, so please let this be my official decree. I take
Zverev
for day 11.
by
ptmcmahon I see Ruud- Djokovic in the list of matches for tomorrow, but hasn't historically that not been allowed if the withdraw is known before OOP is released? Maybe I am just imagining that though

If so that means we have two who can still beat draw (although it will be down to at most one after tomorrow.)
by meganfernandez My fault the Day 11 pick thread didn't go up earlier. If you made a pick here before 5 am ET/11 am Paris time, it will count. Sorry!

Yes. I can't recall a W/O this late in any SP. Historically we have not allowed it, but this time, because the options are so few, we have decided to let it be. So the two people that perhaps were really saving him for the QF's can follow their strategy.
It is odd, but we hope people will be understanding of this special situation.

We thought it was wrong to make people choose from only one match. We'll discuss the new policy after this SP.

Yeah there can be that many winners. We'll have a playoff to figure out the prize winner. TBD.

Wound up a moot point anyway as Alvin picked Zverev and Cyborgshoes lost yesterday!
by pudding Congrats to all the SFists. I got bored and went for the kamikaze pick. Now I can enjoy the semis lol. Good Luck to Alvin - hope you beat the draw.
by ptmcmahon So it looks like we lost two due to no picks last round actually. Plus we lost two de Minaur pickers. So down to ten.
Eight of us have just Alcaraz, natlee has just Sinner, and Alvin has Ruud & Sinner. So assuming everyone picks:
- If Alcaraz & Ruud win and Alvin picks Ruud for tomorrow we have 9 winners
- If Alcaraz & Ruud win and Alvin picks Sinner for tomorrow we have 8 winners
- If Alcaraz & Zverev win we have 8 winners
- If Sinner & Ruud win Alvin will be sole winner as Alvin will have a pick for finals and no one else will
- If Sinner & Zverev win and Alvin picks Sinner for tomorrow we have 2 winners
- If Sinner & Zverev win and Alvin picks Ruud for tomorrow then Natlee is sole winner
Alvin currently has picked Sinner but still lots of time to change!

by ptmcmahon Yup.
(Or if Alvin switches and Sinner beats Ruud for the title!)
by ptmcmahon Looks like we have 8 winners with us all out of picks.

Congrats, all fellow winners! My very first win. It seems like a small thing but I am stoked LOL!
