Having watched Musetti at Queen's, I don't think he has the game to trouble Fritz...great forehand and excellent backhand but pathetic serve and poor movement..Fritz should beat him easily ...Krejcikova-Ostapenko will be all about Ostapenko, as usual ..will she hit winners or the back fence? Nobody knows, least if all, herself.

If you're anti-Djokovic, you shall find the positive in a fact that both time Djokovic had walkover in a slam, he did not win that slam. The most famous is that after Fognini withdrawal he lost his semis in 2011 RG to Federer.

It might actually work against him. Deminaur would have been a good 2 hour workout, and now he has three days off. He may lose some rhythm.
Anyway, his chances of losing to Musetti or Fritz are basically zero, so, who am I kidding.

I expected Musetti to beat Fritz but was re-assessing that view when he was down a set and a break.

He has a beautiful game for grass and played, in my eyes, the most entertaining match of the tournament in the second round against Darderi (I watched it because I had Darderi on my fantasy team). Fritz refuses to come to net when he is control of a point and does not vary his heavy topspin approach. Although he barely had been broken in his last two tournaments including this one, the quality of opponent was subpar and Musetti has returned serve considerably better the entire grass season than anyone else he has faced.

I'm not discounting Fritz rallying to win in 5, but he will need Musetti to get tight. Either way, I agree 100 percent with ponch about either player's chance to beat Djokovic.

That, to me, is an absolutely insane assessment about Musetti. We watch tennis and see completely opposite things. He has every shot in the book you need for grass.

I was overestimating Fritz, frankly..he is not good enough, perhaps, to be a W semifinalist..am not able to watch right now, so my assessment of Musetti is based almost entirely on Queen's..maybe he is better than he showed that day .

This is a first time I see that someone accusing Musetti of poor movement.

There's nothing wrong with Musetti's serve.

It's not great, but it's certainly competent.

And for what it's worth, I watched a bit of his final against Paul and thought the part I saw was incredibly entertaining and well played. Probably saw a little bet less than half of it, though, so I can't comment on the match in its entirety. I might have seen the better part of it.

I DO think there is some faint hope for Musetti. LOL, Musetti has beaten Novak once, and he gave a fight twice in the French Open- I get it, I get it, NOT Wimbledon. AND, since the Aussie, Novak has losses to Nardi, Ruud, Tabillo and Machac. He has lost two sets at Wimbledon- one set to Freakin' Fearnley. I am still- if pathetically- hopeful that we are finally in The New Era of Novak, where he loses a lot. And NO more Slam titles. :freaking:

....And, yes, I know what is going to happen on Sunday.....

BTW, NOT ONE mention from anyone about the great performance today of Rybakina*, and a terrific win for Krejčíková. PFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTT. :ax

*OK, I now see that, in the Day 9 Thread, jazzyg gave props to Rybakina for today's performance. Nevertheless, except now for jazzyg, I maintain my PFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTT status.

.....For what this is worth- Barbora lost her doubles match today looking VERY exhausted the last few games.....

I saw the Queen's live.
Clearly, Musetti's slice and variety confounded Fritz, just as Jabeur confounds many players..Musetti's first serve is good enough, especially the slice, but the second is attackable..Fritz wasn't good enough to attack it...saw the 4th set, which Fritz won. He clearly doesn't move well enough on grass- the difference again was that the roof was not closed, so the wind was also a factor. Fritz certainly has a good game for courts with reliable bounce, and not too fast ones. But grass is not one of them.
