Paris 2024: Playing for Gold - The Scores

#1

Post by Oploskoffie »

Ladies and gentlemen: here are the scores after the first three events, categorized by songtitles of tracks by or featuring Olivia Rodrigo :D
PfG01.jpg
Several of the higher scorers had both the gold and silver medal for the women's swimming 100 metres backstroke correct, with current leader Fastbackss adding a correct gold for the men’s C1 Canoe slalom and SMC_mom getting the gold for the fencing women’s épée team competition :)

Next up are all the tennis results, which is going to be interesting with the exit of popular pick USA for the women's singles silver and Italy featuring in both the women's singles and doubles.

And we are all missing those juicy Iga points and getting just 2 points for her bronze.
Which I would not mind not getting, but those were sort of expected.

I guess this is settled for me. At the very best, I can get a "MY PARENTS WENT TO PARIS AND ALL THEY GOT ME WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHORT" consolation prize.

How many more events are left? Only the Marathon?
I am so far out I get a Tin Medal. Maybe, with a lot of luck, lead.

With apologies for the delay  here are the provisional scores through to and including the women's gymnastics vault, categorized by songtitles of tracks by or featuring the man with a resume unlike most if not all of us, Snoop Dogg! :D
PfG02.jpg
We have since had the men's 100 metres and the women's 200 metres track events, but as I already had the above ready to go I thought it'd be a shame to waste it :)

What I can reveal is that, with only the women's marathon and some serious final score checking to go, the race for the gold seems very much between SMC_mom and Fastbackss, while the battle for bronze appears to be between bestjax, dave g, patrick AND Omegadoom! The order in which the Ethiopians, Kenyans and possibly Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands end up on the podium is going to have a major impact, with varying scenario's still possible.

And I swear I did some research in the events. Just to land 8th.
As I said, I am awarding myself a pewter medal.

It's been an amazing two weeks of sports, scenery and questionable water quality. It's also been a closesly fought first edition of TAT's Olympic competiton Playing for Gold, especially for the bronze!

With only the women's marathon to go there were just 3,5 points in it between SMC_mom and Fastbackss who had picked Ethiopia and Kenya for the gold and silver medal positions but in opposite order. And then the event gold went to the Netherlands, and only one of the two managed to score full points for the silver medal prediction: OUR gold medal winner, SMC_mom! :yahoo: In 2nd place, picking up the silver medal is Fastbackss! Both got 5 correct gold picks, but the extra correct silver pick for SMC_mom secured the win :D And in 3rd place, winning the bronze medal by beating out patrick by a single point is bestjax!

Here are the final scores, categorized by songtitles of tracks by... Coldplay! :D

Congratulations to our medal winning contestants (digital bling will soon be awarded) and thank you all very much for taking part! :D Los Angeles here we come!
