As you all know predictions aren't my strong suit. That said I think the women's draw is wide open and that anyone can win this.

This draw is much better in terms of balance than the men's draw.

These pics are posted as rumors swirl she's going to withdraw from the Open. She has reserved practice slots though...

But Jabeur has withdrawn hasn't she?!

Potential day 1 upset (more than 40% prob,)..Siniakova over Keys.

Upset #2. Whoever is playing Elena.
I don't think Siniakova will beat Keys. Can be a great match, but Keys plays well at the USO.

I didn't realize that until today when I saw the match as "cancelled" on the OOP.

Keys does not appear to be healthy coming into the tournament.

If she's healthy, she beats Siniakova 2 and 2. If not, she could lose.

Keys easily over Siniakova. Maybe Siniakova concentrates on the doubles only.

That was my suspicion..that Keys is not healthy..fortunately, unwarranted

Any news on why Elena withdrew?
I am starting to feel sorry for her. There is something that is bugging her and it has taken so long I wonder if anybody knows what it is.

From the US Open website, and, to quote....

“Unfortunately, I have to withdraw from my match today due to my injuries," Rybakina said in a statement. "I did not want to finish the last Grand Slam of the year this way but I have to listen to my body, and I hope I can close out the remainder of the year strong.

"Thank you to all the fans who have and continue to support me, and I wish the remaining players good luck.”

....AND, of course, there could be more to this story.....

....AND, apparently, 3 points into their match, Plíšková had to drop out of her match with Paolini due to an ankle injury. How sad.
