by ponchi101 Hello everybody!
This year, due to an expanded budget (we have $3 extra in our coffers), we have opened a larger, new, improved, revamped and more accommodating lounge. How? Because this time, we will hold both the LOSERS from the Survivors' Pool, and the WINNERS from the YCWJ contest.
Some of you will be the same. We have a special prize: IF the player that sinks you in the SP (i.e, that player LOST) also keeps you alive in the YCWJ, you get a bottle of your choice, plus dinner. And, if the player that beats your pick in the SP was expected to also lose in YCWJ but didn't, you get...
NOTHING!!!
Because that would be like one hell of a double bad bounce.
But you get to tell the tale.

We have everything you need because we are in NYC. Any cocktail. All the food. 34 Widescreen TV's to watch all the courts, loud music and we will be open 24/7 during these two weeks.
Hope to see you soon here. You know you will drop by!!! ;)

by mmmm8 Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome!

Meine Damen und Herren, mesdames et messieurs, Ladies and Gentlemen!
Guten Abend, bonsoir, good evening!
Wie geht's? Comment ça va? Do you feel good?

Yeah, I bet you DON'T. Because...

So, welcome to the Loser's section of the Lounge!

Order your favorite beverage from the barkeep, make your pick from our jukebox of hell, and settle down to watch others succeed, just like the loser you picked is doing.

by mmmm8 I'll be my own first guest, shots of ouzo for everyone, courtesy of Sakkari's bum shoulder

by naughtyT I've just popped in to marvel at the Bublik pickers. The audacity of that level of belief is a wonderful thing to behold. Congrats and cheers.

I always marvel at Bublik. He makes Monfils, Laconte and every other player that has been called careless look composed and thoughtful.
If you only look at the game, Bublik should have won. Easily. But that head...

My whine.
Wake up this morning, do my YCWJ. I choose two Argies, Coria and Comesana. Comesana comes from a ridiculous run at W, so I say, he can't keep that up.
So I move him to be my first pick.
And he keeps his run going. Damn!!!

Eating healthy really can do wonders, huh? ;)

by ponchi101 Actually, his name is with an Ñ. It is Comesaña.
I will let you find the language joke there ;)

by joanjettson Did I miss the scouting report on Felix? I'd like a quarter to play some led zeppelin on the jukebox, because my USO just went down hard.

by ponchi101 Led Zeppelin? Joan, at best, you get AC/DC's Highway to Hell.
I did not pick Felix because I thought it would be too early. That was a bum pick,

by ponchi101 We have a really special treat for the Lehecka pickers. Something that will make us forget...

He really wanted me to learn my lesson, huh, and made Humbert eat it.

by atlpam Double cheeked - didn’t think Errani still had singles wins in her and thought a home crowd could rally behind Dolehide.

by motobass Irena2 is hiding in shame because she totally forgot to pick... After going to the open in person. It was a long travel day. I too managed on my own to get double cheeked - a Humbert picker. There remains some small hope for the YCWJ contest at least.

How about something along the lines of a cognac. Even a fancy cognac has to be cheaper than a Honey Deuce (which we thought were pretty good!).

Thank you, ponchi!!! Your kindness helps alleviate the complete bummed-ness of DIY doublecheeking. :bang: :bang:

But it probably won't help with my memory... :P

by Oploskoffie And so, Mr. Fils is the final bookend to an absolutely miserable SP year for me. Next year is going to see me adopt a different strategy. For now... I'm going to sit in a corner with a large tub of triple chocolade ice cream...

by dave g I had planned to come in here, if Maddie had won, and ask for something to calm my nerves. However, since she lost, I don't need anything. ;)

(If you need translating, think of the "I hate suicide draw pools" thread.)

I quote:
The recipe calls for equal parts of orange liqueur and lime juice, poured in a mug 3/4 ounce at a time. Try this cocktail with an aged rum if you want it to have a little more depth, even if you want to use white rum (or light rum).

Now, I just need to find a cocktail for us Vika pickers. -->

Anyway, if there is a person here that deserves a cocktail on the house, it is you.

This is the "Madison Ave Cocktail":

by ashkor87 much to my own surprise, I am still alive in the Men's SP but Boulter accounted for me in the WTA side.. losing to that Maneiro person! absurd! i need some english ale, I think (hold the strawberries though)

by Fastbackss I blame myself for my loss yesterday. I came back TWICE to change my pick and didn't because I oft believe in the "trust your first thought."

I then decided last night to have N/A beer with dinner, but saw the score come up again and switched to something heavier during the Big Foe match...since that is who I was going to pick lol

English Ale.
I also thought of picking Boulter. I switched early in the morning.
She is good for 1 round. Then, let Alex deal with her.

by catman Wow! This place is great. Why was I hanging around outside watching the women when I could have been here. But just a water, I need to keep a clear head for one more day.

by naughtyT I thought the Golden Retriever had one more win in her. Alas, not to be.
