We have our answer.
Problem, for me, is that I can't understand what is the injury. It is not as if her style is so physically stressful.

Re: WTA 500 Seoul 9/16 - 9/22 2024
It went from being a top tier 500, loaded with talent, to being a reasonable 250.
Too bad. I will spare all of you my comments about this "we are playing too much" mentality. How can the WTA promote a 500 with this actual field?

Look at what happened with the field in Guadalajara this week. Too many tournaments spread out over too many weeks.

Re: WTA 500 Seoul 9/16 - 9/22 2024
And we come back to the same conversation. How can the WTA promote a tournament with virtually no stars in it? Guadalajara really has given a good push for a reasonable tournament. it is the sole 500 in L. America, for women. It offers good prize money. And one has to wonder if they are turning a profit.
Other than re-assigning all the calendar, the WTA has to see how they can get the top players to play more frequently and, at the same time, feel that they are not playing to the point of burn out.
And I don't think it can be done.
Side track. All sports are going that way. The NFL is getting closer to an 18 game season. The NBA can't curve its 82 game schedule, leading to players not playing multiple games. F1 has moved to 22 races (it used to be 12!).
The show must go on. But if there is no show because the actors don't show up, what to do?

The scheduling of a 500 event the week after a Grand Slam event should be a crime.

Re: WTA 500 Seoul 9/16 - 9/22 2024
Going by last year's experience, the court is medium-paced, not too fast, not too slow...Samsonova seems the best player here ..Shnaider and Kostyuk should do well too..
It is a depleted field, but much better than Guadalajara was ..so things are looking up. I suppose anything less than a 1000 level event isn't enough to entice the big players like Swiatek at this late stage in the year.. everyone is tired, a bit injured, generally demotivated ..some of the young ones should seize these opportunities with both hands! Who could that be this time,?
