2025 The Slide Into Paris: How it works

#1

Post by dave g »

Welcome to the 2025 Edition of The Slide into Paris (TSiP)! This perennial clay-themed TAT Fantasy Tennis contest features seven WTA clay court tournaments over five weeks, leading up to Roland Garros, and all are welcome to enter!

Your team will consist of 12 WTA players from the top 100 women on the WTA Tour(*). You will have 150 credits to spend on your 12-person team. The top 100 ranked players are divided into four categories, and each player is priced according to his ranking. You'll need to purchase three players from each category. We will be using the rankings from March 20 (post-Indian Wells).

Each player on your team will be awarded points depending on how deep he goes in each tournament. NOTE: Even if a player withdraws or retires from a match, you will receive full credit for the round that player reached. The next post in this thread shows the tournaments and the points which can be won.

The responsibility of finding out who will be playing which of these events is on you. For deadlines, we will post updates in this thread, as well as in the various threads for picking your initial team and making trades.

Now, do you think you've done a good job scouting players and you know for absolute certainty which players will be leading you to victory? Then go to TSIP 2025: Post Your Team HERE to register your team. After deciding upon an original, unique team, you may change this team as often as you need to, up until the start of the contest, by editing your original post. To see which players are eligible to be picked for your team, the third post in this thread indicates the player groups and costs.

Instead of one of the Category D players, you may pick a player ranked higher than 100 as Wild Card for a cost of 5 points. If you think you have spotted the next Rafael Nadal, but he is currently ranked somewhere in the 100's, you now have the option to put that player on your team. You may trade Wild Card players as you would any other player, but you are limited to no more than one Wild Card player on your roster for any given week. The Wild Card is optional. If you want to pick 3 players from the D group listing, you may do so.

No two contestants may have the same initial team, so your original 12-person team must be different from all other previously posted teams by at least one player. It is your individual responsibility to check the teams that have been posted and make sure yours does not exactly duplicate a team that already has been posted. We will do our best to check entries as they are posted to enforce this, but to save yourself some possible grief later on, we strongly urge each participant to check the teams that already have been posted and make sure your team is different to avoid disqualification.

If the contest has multiple players in the same category with the same last name, please clearly indicate which player you are selecting. If a player selection is ambiguous, then no points will be awarded for any weeks where that roster spot with the ambiguous name is active. If a trade is used with an ambiguous name, the trade will count toward the allotted number for the contest, in addition to that roster spot losing any points it might have earned.

You are allowed up to FIVE substitutions during the five-week contest. Substitutions can be made at any time after the first week begins, but a substitution will not go into effect until the following tournament. To make a substitution, sell a player back (adding their cost to your remaining credits) then simply buy another player. YOU MUST ALWAYS HAVE NO MORE THAN THREE PLAYERS PER CATEGORY ON YOUR TEAM AND YOU CAN NEVER HAVE SPENT MORE THAN 150 CREDITS for a given week. We will create a thread for trades once the contest is underway..

At the end of each week, you may see how you're doing on our scoreboard thread. Results will be posted as soon as possible after each week's competition is complete. The first scoreboard will be posted at the conclusion of the first week's tournaments.

As always, we strongly encourage chatter about the contest. To whine about your team, or commiserate with others about their teams, go to the post TSIP 2025: The Dirt Lounge.

Finally, if you have any questions about the contest, please don't hesitate to ask. We are here to help! To ask questions, please post to this thread, and we will respond as quickly as we can.

Your initial teams are due by the start of play on March 31, 2025 when the first tournament, Charleston, gets underway. No teams can be accepted after the deadline.

Best of luck to all, and thank you for participating!

do you mean ranked LOWER than 100 as a wild card?

We need a lounge for me to complain about none of my women even making semis this week!

(Maybe. Bouzkova was down 5-1 in third set but is back on serve.)

I've braced myself. I barely hit triple digits even with 11 players playing.

Just to confirm trade deadline before Monday? Don’t see any main draw matches tomorrow.
