Ben Shelton had to come back to play 4 points today to close out his match, 3 of which were aces and one was an unreturned second serve.

Osaka played really badly...not moving well, error after error..Anisimova had to fight too but she looked much more solid....

Did I expect Keys to go past QF's? No, but I also didn't anticipate her losing to 37 year old Laura Siegemund who has never been past R2 at Wimbledon...

But Maddie is Maddie. I know, she is a grand slam champion. But the reality is that, with all those gorgeous strokes, she should have more than one. She is an underachiever, in that aspect.
And losing to Siegemund only adds to that narrative. Because it was not that she lost, it was the score. 3 & 3? Wow!

Siegemund hasn't lost more than six games per match yet. Must be playing particularly well.

Keys is not really a grass player..movement..on grass, movement and ability to get to low balls is more important than power..though serve does count. I always thought Keys would do better on clay than on grass..

Hard courts is where Keys really excels not clay or grass as can be seen by her GS results (6 out of 7 SF's). But still Siegemund???

Siegemund is like that family member who shows up at holiday gatherings and chews with her mouth open, clangs her silverware loudly and rudely against her plate, complains about the lack of salad dressing selections, and suggests there may not actually be enough food when she goes back for a third helping,

Everything about Siegemund, her very essence, drives people bonkers.

Siegemund is why people drink.

What an amazing draw now for Sabalenka. Probably Anisimova as the only serious obstacle left in her half.

Meanwhile, on the BBC, Tim Henman and the other presenters really talking up Emma's chances (which, from a television perspective, I guess you have to do) and I'm just like "Shut up already... Didn't the Draper loss remind you to be more... careful?" So, what are we thinking? World of hurt for Emma, a decent workout for Aryna or an unexpected win/loss?

Decent workout. But I think Emma has a decent shot with Peschey coaching.

Broken 5 times. Served 70%, which is good, but was 1/19 on second serve points. Dreadful. Siegemund is a tough out. I don’t think it’s a terrible loss. Disappointing, though.

I think she is more than a forehand. Serve is usually a weapon and her backhand is more than solid.
